Will diabetes affect skin over years?

Any illness can affect the skin, especially over prolonged periods. However, with diabetes, thanks to modern understandings of the disorder you can keep the symptoms in check, and the damage to your skin (and all the rest of your organs... yes, the skin is an organ..) should be minimal.

I am a diabetic and lately, I have very bad eczema on my hands.

I wonder if it is due to my diabetes but doctors say no.

But it is not getting better and I start to wonder if because of my illness, the wounds take longer to heal and never ever fully recover.

That's entirely possible; I doubt eczema is *caused* by your diabetes, but it's almost certainly responsible for making it worse.

Try a rinse/compress of chamomile and lavender 'tea', and keep it well moisturized!
