Well, Auron is not supposed to like it all. He's not supposed to be in high spirits like Tidus or Wakka. He has a different story. He is dead. I guess the only reasons he joins Yuna, are to lead Tidus to Jekt, and because Yuna is Braska's daughter and he knew her when she was a child. You can't just blame him for being rude and half-hostile. He doesn't like what he has to do. But as for the guardian, he does everything in outstanding way (I hardly had any battle without him participating in it <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> ). As a frined or companion or whoever beyond his duties, he preferes to stay alone. It's not that hard to understand why. He always speaks the truth, he will answer any vital question and he'll always guide the journey. You can't make him laugh together with everyone when they do, you can't make him speak about love and feelings. And those few moments when he does, it makes him uncomfortable and somewhat painful. I guess his behavior is quite right. If he had been a little softer, friendlier, nicer, etc... it would have made his character a little too artificial and a lot less strong. His bahavior comes along with his appearance and his past life. I guess everything is coherent.
