All of you who dont what children because your lifes too good the way it is should be thankfull that your perants did not think the same way as you or you would not be here to enjoy the wonderful privalige of life and all it has to offer. Not having children, when you can, is not giving some one like you the chance to have what you have, now that is selfish. No one says everything in life should be easy or that because we have the freedom of choice we should choose to be selfish, self righteous, self indulgent self self self hmmmm. Sorry but yes you do have a choice and it is your life, your body, your time here we go again your your your, some patterns emerging and i dont think they are the best ones, again sorry."

I just don't understand the logic. "Gee mom, thanks for having me, I guess I'd better turn out a grandkid so that you see just how grateful I am."

Oh geez. What a loon.

Life=martyrship and sacrifice. Donate your life to the next generation. It is our duty as a female. You must do this even if you don't want children. Too bad if your children can feel that and it screws them up...you better fake it and give someone who doesn't exist the greatest gift.

I've never ever even factored that into my decision...and never will! Ha ha! He can have his freaky little life philosophy but it's not mine.

I liked the article, and was pleasantly surprised how many positive responses there were. I agree with the poster who said that it is important to get the issue out into the open more often so that people know that having kids is a CHOICE. Everyone needs to decide for themselves whether kids are right for their life.
Every child should be a wanted child.

If you follow that argument to its logical conclusion, everyone ought to be popping out as many babies as physically possible, because if they don't, they are depriving a potential someone of existence. It's an absurd way of looking at things - after all, we don't grieve for the siblings our parents could have given us if they had decided to have more children!

I'm still working my way through the comments on that blog, but I have been pleasantly surprised so far - for the most part, intelligent, coherent and well thought-out posts from the non-parents and parents alike.

This guy makes it sound like it is our "duty" to pop out kids whether we want them or not. That is sick and sad. I wonder if his kids are wanted or are they his "duty".

And there's a million suffering kids out there who wish they'd never been born, and don't thank you for the life they have... what a stupid argument. If you want kids, then nobody's stopping you having them and being whatever kind of parent to them. You can beat them, torture them and royally screw them over, and it's your right. And we're selfish for admitting that we'd be bad parents, so we don't want to go there?

I bet he's a psycho fundamentalist do-gooder God-bothering creep (he certainly failed English :-)), and his kids are probably Prozac-addled societal liablities. But he did his duty - too bad the rest of us have to live with it.

When I see a comment such as Howard's that is so peppered with grammar mistakes, misspellings, and flawed arguments I think to myself "Great, another moron who is going to reproduce and make lots of moron babies." There is no doubt in my mind that the world is slowly but surely producing less intelligent people.

I suppose his argument to me would be to breed and have lots of babies so I can help offset his idiot children.
