Today I was filming and these kids kept pushing in front of the camera so that they could see the animals. It's not like I was even there long, they could have waited their turn, but they had to shove their way in front of me ... in front of every animal I was filming! Grrr ...
At one point, a mom told her kid to be careful. He turned to another kid and said "be careful while she's filming!" While he said this, he not only kicked my tripod (on accident) but he also sprayed my bare arm with spit. Ick ...

What the heck is it about kids and cameras? Even stranger's cameras. Ill-behaved little cretins!

I wish there was a portable way to rope off my area whenever I'm working.
I understand that kids are more focused on the animals - I just wish parents tried to do more to keep them out of my way. I'm always nice and say excuse me and everything, but 1/2 the time the parents just say "watch the camera" in a bored voice. Although, there was one mom the other day at a different exhibit who did a really good job of keeping her daughter away

This speaks to how difficult it is to do ANYTHING when there are kids around.
My nephew (he's 7) is always trying to "help" me. And it's really sweet, but it's so much easier to do stuff when he isn't around.
Save your own life - don't have kids!

Yes, it is hard to do things when kids are around. They demand so much attention. Because if they're not off doing something they shouldn't, then they are underfoot or asking "why?" about EVERYTHING. Which is cute up to a point.
We have this neighbor kid who is always hanging out at our house. I can't get anything done while he's here, so when I need him to leave, this is what I do - "Hey Billy, I need to weed the garden. Do you want to help?" He says "YES!" he is SO excited. Of course, no matter what we're doing he has no idea what to do. But, about 3 minutes into helping, he'll stand up, sigh, and say "I think I'd better go home. Do you think you can finish without me?"
This has worked since he was about 6, right around the time that he went through his "I want to help with everything" phase. (He's 11 now.) I wonder when he's going to catch on!

My nieces (8, 11, & 11) want to help me w/everything, but balk at helping their mom around their house or clening THEIR rooms. Their "help" makes everything take 10 times longer, they're sweet sometimes but I can't take it 24/7.

I HATE pushy kids. I know that the neighbours kid drives me nuts. She's 10, a precocious little know all with a big mouth to match, and drives her parents nuts as well as me. On the weekend I was out in the front garden with the dogs keeping me company, and she just bowls up the driveway, revs up my dog (who then gets into trouble for not doing what he's told), walks all over the garden, and skips off again. For one, don't come on my property unless you're invited. Two, you ask permission to pet my dog, don't just bowl up to him. Brat...

Yes - kids haven't learned yet that the whole world isn't interested in them. If I see one coming at me I act very busy and take off right away.

I really like this little guy from down the street. I babysat his brother and sister before he was even born. When he was about 3 he started calling me "mommy." Freaked me out! These are the kids who never had any discipline.
His dad walked out about a year ago - he'd been cheating with another woman. The family never saw it coming. They've always been friends, but I think my husband is kind of a father-figure to the little guy now.
I wouldn't mind his coming over so much if he weren't a bull in a china shop. He's broken one of my dining room chairs and will just go in the fridge without asking. Although, he is getting better now that he's older.
I feel bad for him that his dad is a loser and his mom never was able to discipline them. I do try to spend time with him when he comes over. His mom said that he really craves our attention.
