I'm amazed that so many bloggers have her back. Good for her. She's obviously good at what she does, and probably has a really stimulating career. Why should she give that up?

That's surprising that most of the comments are in Rachael's favor, considering the heat that many of us take on a daily basis and based on other blogs on the topic that many of us have posted or read.

I personally love Rachael Ray (I can cook because of her!) and I agree with many people who posted that she need not defend her decision.

And sometimes I feel like I'm a bad mom to my dog, too...my work hours have sucked so badly lately! Even if I had the desire, I'd never bring a kid into the chaos that is my daily life.

I had wondered if Rachael Ray were "one of us" but I never would have asked her like People Magazine did, since it's nobody's business! LOL! It's nice to know that she is, though. I do admire her and enjoy her TV show and her magazine. And obviously she LIKES kids, because she puts goofy kid drawings up on the walls of her show set. LOL!

My brother just got married, and his new wife has two sons from a previous marriage, ages 10 and 13. I wonder if people have started asking them yet "So are you going to have a child "of your own" (meaning the two of them together)? I'm certainly not going to ask, it's not my business! Personally I can't image she'd want to start over with a baby again with her sons the ages they are now, but that's totally up to them, and they'll tell (us) family if/when that becomes a reality. My brother loves her kids and gets along with them very well, he has fun with them but is able to discipline them when necessary. They're good kids, all I've ever seen needed was a reminder to settle down if they get too silly.

wow that's really cool about Rachael Ray! i was starting to think that all of hollywood was being infected with " mommyitis!"(cheryl crow,i'm so sad about this!) i read an interview with a while back and i believe that she said back then that she wanted kids but it seemed more like she said that b/c it was what she was supposed to say. it was more like , i want kids but....not for a while kind of thing. that's so cool that she just came out and said it! good for her! i know the media can be really prodding about this issue. even when a celeb says they don't want kids it seemed like the media can't take that as an ans.

You really have to WANT kids to adopt. It takes a special person to do that.

Maybe b/c she is a celebrity she gets more of a pass...I was surprised at the supportive comments....where are these people in our lives? I get more of the "you don't know how full of love your life can be...." blah, blah, blah.

I also agree that it takes more guts to adopt. That is what we will do if I ever get "bitten" by the motherhood bug. It is really selfless and special to take in another person's "accident" as your own. It takes nearly nothing but lying there to get knocked up yourself. whistle

I always had the feeling Rachel Ray was a true CF'er. Good for her! I love her show, too. Childfree living ROCKS!
