Focus on being happy as just you first; the friends will follow. Confidence is a magnet.
This is absolutely true. When i was in my twenties, i didn't have much confidence. I found that looked to others to make me happy. If they rejected me in any way (even just not being available when i needed them) i became very unhappy.
When i hit 30, something changed in me. I started to think 'what do i like to do?' and 'what makes me happy?'. I stopped thinking in terms of other people, and more about what i could do for myself to change the way i felt. It was good to stop focussing on others for a while.
And it really is true that if you value yourself, others will value you as well. Confidence definitely is a magnet.
Just concentrate on enjoying being you; once you know and love who you are, you will attract people into your life who feel the same way.
