There are some sappy women that have kids when they accidentally become pregnant. In fact, you never hear of women giving unplanned babies up for adoption anymore.

I had a friend that gave her baby up for adoption when she was a teen. Her Mom was really whacky, but I give her Mom credit for encouraging her to give her a baby to a couple that was ready for a baby.

Getting pregnant isn't the same thing as being ready for a baby.

I don't understand why it is such a BIG DEAL to other people. I can kind of understand "misery loves company" but really, that's not what this is about. I'm sure they're not trying to make themselves feel better about having kids. I know that the one lady has kids my age and is best friends with them.

Maybe it's also like a problem I have with my husband. If there is a food or a TV show he likes but I don't like, he will try to "convince" me to like it. Like sushi. He keeps pressuring me to try sushi, and I don't like it. I don't have to try it to know that I don't like it. But he likes it so much, he just doesn't understand why I DON'T like it, or why I won't give it more of a chance.

I guess some people just like eating raw fish, and some don't.

I don't like eating raw fish, and I don't want kids.

Hey, that's good. Next time someone says "why don't you want kids" I will say "some people like eating raw fish." Confuse 'em a bit.

Ooo, there you go! Actually, the sushi analogy isn't bad. It's a matter of taste, not a matter for judgement.

LOL! It is a good analogy. The little people haven't been cooked all the way yet either.

Similar thing happened to me. Woman wouldn't let it go. I finally *faked* shocked, "do you think?? YOu'll come w/ me to get the abortion, right? I don't want to go alone!" Then I shut up and pleaded w/ my eyes. B****- woman eventually stammered a "yes". Unfortunately, wasn't the last I heard from her on this....

Also tried, "oh, I LOVE kids. I HATE MOmmies. Couldn't stand to be around them, don't want to be one". Passive way of saying, "I hate YOU".

That is a good one....oh, I like kids, I just hate what they turn their mothers into....nosy, self-riteous, b*$ches.

I can believe how tacky these gangs of mommies can be...I've been ganged up on. They say things like....'oh you have to have kids...the world needs more good kids...' like it is some sort of birthing contest! Gross.

I agree, if they bring it up again, tell them you will have to go to HR to complain that they are creating a hostile work environment for you!

H2BCF,

I'm being a total nag about language here, but...

I have a few gay friends. Several are like family to me. Homosexuality is not a "lifestyle" or a "choice". Neither is heterosexuality. Both orientations are hardwired from birth. Just as you or I wouldn't wake up one day and suddenly "choose" be attracted only to others of the same sex, gay people couldn't just suddenly will themselves to be attracted to those of the opposite sex.

Studies in the animal kingdom come up with the same findings. Homosexuality has been documented in over 400 species. It's natural, normal, and...well, not a choice!

The world needs more good kids...how about the world needs more good mommies/daddies to care for the good kiddies that are already here with no one to love them. I'm not pushing adoption or anything, but that "the world needs more good kids" doesn't seem like a reason to have kids to me...
