Today I wasn't feeling well - I think I just have a little cold coming on. My coworkers asked why I didn't do my regular workout, so I told them I thought I was getting a cold.
"Maybe you're pregnant" one of them said slyly. (BTW, remember, they ALL know I'm CF.) She says this any time I have a headache, a cold, menstrual cramps (oh yes!) or am even tired. And the funny thing is, most of the time they make that comment, I'm 1/2 way through my period (like today.) So, if pregnancy is like having your period, then that's kind of messed up.
I AM SICK OF IT. Then the other one (who is normally awesome about it) chimes in and starts teasing me. What the heck?
I said I'm NOT pregnant. They say, "well, if it happened, you'd probably love it."
I said I'd abort it. They were shocked.
"You won't know how you feel until it happens," they say.
I said it certainly WON'T happen.
Them: "But it could." Me: "But it WON'T." them: "But you'd be a good mom." Me: "I would be the best mom ever but I don't WANT to be a mom." Them: "Well, you never know, someday you could get pregnant." Me: "And I already said I would get rid of it."
Seriously, what is wrong with people? I have refrained from doing this, but the next time either of them says anything, I'm pulling out the "I'm sure you'll regret ever having children someday." I swear I will, don't make me do it!
I'm going to go lie down, my back hurts from Pilates.
OR MAYBE I'M PREGNANT.

Sounds like they like teasing you I would not let them see that it gets to you. Next time they do it tell them that you have had an abortion and you would not hesitate in doing it again.

They like teasing me, but I wish they wouldn't. I've told them both that it upsets me. Damn, I wish I wasn't so sensitive.

I'd tell them flat out to back off or risk facing equally rude, intrusive questions about the most sensitive topic you can think of.
That sounds harsh, but these people obviously don't respect you enough to chose their topics for "playful teasing" wisely. They must know it bothers you, but aren't taking your responses seriously. You might have to be a bit rude in order to get your point across.

Wow you co-workers sound like b*ches. Last time someone told me I'd make a good mom, I replied "no I wouldn't". When they asked why, I said "because I would resent every penny and every moment spent on them". That shut her up. She hasn't mentioned it again. Maybe ignoring your co-workers' comments would work? Or you could respond with the traditional "No comment". Sorry you work with such morons.

That would really bother me, too. It's actually really inappropriate. It could be an HR moment.
Coworkers aren't allowed to harrass homosexuals about their lifestyle choice. They shouldn't be allowed to bug you about this.
You aren't allowed to bug people about religion at work either.
It's way too personal to joke about, unless you are doing the joking.
I think you know better than they do if you could potentially be in that type of situation. If you are like me, you would probably never ever allow a pregnancy to happen.
Save your own life - don't have kids!

Right, you'd just compound one huge mistake with another. Please. I've had this particular conversation with an ex boyfriend. He knew I didn't want kids but he asked me the question once "what would happen if you did get accidentally pregnant?" My response was the same as yours. He said "Would you tell me?" My reply : "No, I wouldn't". "Why not?" "Because it's my life and my decision". I think he was a little taken aback. But seriously, is this one of those "need to know" things? How much does he "need to know"? I think there are very, very few genuine cases where somebody ever becomes "accidentally pregnant". But I'm always amazed by the number of people that think that just because you're carrying a zygote your mind will suddenly change... I guess we should be eternally grateful to medical science for giving us the choices we have :-)

Wow, they sound rude. They're probably just teasing but when they know exactly how you feel about it, that's just rude. Don't you just love when people tell you how you feel???

Ingilbert- I have had a similar experience and the antiCF usually keep it going until you pull out the big guns. That gets on my nerves so bad. I had to respond with "no baby will ever come out of me alive!" They, of course, left me alone after that. But, I certainly hated to go there. But, after that, there was no more mention of me having babies. I don't want you to have to be that melodramatic but I certainly do understand. But, why or why, do people feel the need to harass others about this. I don't care if they have any children but people feel the need to ask me this.
