My article this week is a review of Cecile Baird's book Painting Light with Colored Pencil. As someone who hasn't picked up a coloured pencil since school I was blown away by Cecile's exquisite photorealistic drawings. I had never considered this a serious medium before. Now I'm hooked!

I'm not really a colored pencil kind of person, but I must say...I'm impressed!

I love colored pencils too! I have a celtic mandala coloring book that I used to color in! Egads! I should go get that out - I've been so stressed lately and coloring is so relaxing!

Earlier this week I was using colored pencils and india ink markers.

At work my favorite thing to write my notes to pass on to the next shift in is ultra fine point sharpies in every color.

I am a visual color person.

My boss tells me if she gets a note in more than two colors she knows it is from me. laugh

I love coloured pencils. Actually, I love using the watercolour coloured pencils. I have this Japanese kind of brush that you fill the barrel up with water. Then I make the drawing with the pencils, and afterwards go over them with the water brush. It's lovely and good fun.

Just bought some pearly watercolours from a discount store. I'm looking forward to having a playaround using my coloured pencils and the sparkly watercolours together!

Hey! Good idea about the mandala colouring book. I've got one of those, I should give it a go as well. It is relaxing to just let your mind go, and colour!

Health, Good Luck and happy days to all! //(^.^)\\

I do have fun drawing with coloured pencils. Although, they get boring to me after a while as I don't have the patience and I hate holding things (I know I'm a weirdo!). I do prefer using my fingers to smudge things and paint with. I like to get messy. It's fun. I'm not very creative, but I have fun doodling.

I agree with the water colour pencils, at least I can use my fingers to blend the colours with the water.

My favourite medium by far is oil pastels. I could play with them all day long.

I'm very much a paint person. I love the flexibility of the brush as opposed to the precision of coloured pencils. And like you I always use my fingers, fingernails, and hands to blend, scrape, and smudge the paint.

I forgot how much I loved drawing --with colored pencils -- when I was younger. I just went and dung out one of my sketch books. I also used pencils with pastels and charcoals and pencils that turned into watercolors with a brush and water. . .I agree with voiceovergal, probably need to pick back up any type of art project to release stress.

I'm somewhat artistic, but it's not something I do very often. Every once in awhile I get inspired and end up drawing or painting something quite nice, and I kind of impress myself! lol... my dad is quite artisitc, but his art is very unique. It's a mix of native art and abstract... He uses pens, usually pigma pens (the very fine tipped ink pens) I would love to show you guys a couple pictures I've done in the past, but I'm not sure how I can post them up on here.
