Tell him he used your share of the replacement rate - two per family. Say that you are opting out because he overindulged himself.

We ran into a friend last night at Dairy Queen that has four boys. The last two were twins. We assume they probably didn't wish for doubles on what was probably their last child, and they probably wanted a girl. Bummer.

Anyway, he said he was playing Mr. Mom this week. We felt so bad for him, the kids were spilling ice cream on themselves, and all over the parking lot. What a mess.

It's really kooky that they are talking to you about it after you've had the procedure. It shows you mean business.

No one harrasses the guys that go around getting other women pregnant.

You could also harrass your brother about his interests and life choices, if he shows he disagrees with yours. You could encourage him to work in your field, b/c clearly, it's the only way to go. The same way kids are the only way to go.

If he ever has the timerity to question you, Mike, I like the very short and elegant "Enough about me --- let's talk about you. If you hadn't finally had a boy with pregnancy #4, how many children would it have taken before you threw in the towel?"

I'd love to see how he'd feel about his reproductive choices being put under the microscope.

Exactly! I have a LOT more respect for a man who takes responsibility for birth control, rather than expecting the woman to do it, or not discussing it at all, therefore having "oops" babies, or letting a woman "oops" him into a baby he doesn't want. Especially when a man makes a birth control choice that leaves no doubt what his intentions regarding parenthood are. Too bad more men aren't as responsible.

Hello Mike. I'm glad to hear that you are doing well with moving forward, despite such heartbreak. It sounds like, just like in most cases, your dad and siblings are projecting what they think is best for you as far as childrearing is concerned. I'm sorry that they do not respect your decision to be sterile by choice and quite frankly that is their own problem to deal with as you are the one who truly has the reins on your life path. Your mom seems to be at least a certain amount of support as I'm sure dealing with several GCs is hard enough.

As for your race, much luck to you. It's nice to see another roadie. I've been riding for several years, but haven't raced in a few. I too have thought about certain aspects of life as being like a nasty headwind. I agree that childrearing is more than your typical "argy-bargy." crazy

Well, I'll be damned. I never even thought that men faced this same kind of pressure. From the outside looking in, it seemed that people accepted their (men) CF stance without question. Lucky for Mike, he knows of a website that has many many women that don't want children either.
Solidarity, my CF brother! smile
