Can you make homemade body lotion? With natural ingredients you can buy at almost any market?

i make my own skin butter. I don't make the lotion yet because i don't want to add water to my stuff because water lessens the shelf life of home made skin products. I use natural yellow beeswax and oil. Whatever type of oil i have around. you just melt the beeswax with a oil. About half and half will give you a lip balm texture, i make mine softer than that about half the beeswax to the oil. I don't measure and it always works. you can also use vegetable waxes. i bought my natural beeswax off a local beekeeper, i got about ten pounds of beeswax for $20 Canadian. You can also find beeswax or natural veggie wax online. Since I use maybe a tablepoon of beeswax to about 3/4 cup of oil, it becomes cheap to use. Olive oil which is good for the skin has its own scent and I do not always want to smell like a salad so i will also use sunflower oil, which is practically scent free. Making your own skin products is like cooking, once you have the hang of it, it is very easy. With a lotion, you make it the same as a butter only you whip the water in after melting the oil and wax together.

I know you can use yogurt, honey ,oatmeal and olive oil as mositurizers. I doubt they have a very long shelf life however.

yeah, i sometimes use yogurt and whatever i have in my cupboards as a facial. it will exfoliate so i only use it for a short time. i am not too crazy about exfoliates for facial care.

I have dry skin on my face. I make a facial from ground oatmeal (put it through a spice mill) olive oil and honey. My skin feels so great after.

I have even used it as a body scrub on my arms and legs when they are very dry.

This isn't exactly body lotion because you wash it off but your skin feels so smooth after.

There are lots of recipes using what's in your kitchen. Look for lotion recipes or skin care recipes. Thanks for the great website. I love mixing and creating my own lotions, soaps, etc.

Two easy and natural things you can use on your skin are coconut oil and aloe. Both of these give you very soft skin without chemicals and preservatives.

I have never made any home lotions or facials before but have recently heard so much about it. I have very sensitive skin so I'm always a bit nervous of using something like this, especially on my face. I'm worried of a bad reaction. But these sound so simple and fun that I might try! Everyone seems to have great reactions to them smile Thanks for sharing!

I used to make my own body butter back when I was in homemade soap making mode. I used cocoa butter, a little beeswax, very little, organic only, sunflower oil, shea butter, and sesame oil plus organic lavender oil for fragrance. I purchased everything at Mountain Rose Herbs I believe. Just do a google search for them, they are a great resource.

Since I moved my business into the fashion sector I don't have time to make my own anymore, I use Alba Botanical lotion. It's completely natural and more than 75% organic. Clears up all kinds of skin issues. Great on the legs after shaving. I believe I get that from Snow Drift Farms in the gallon bottle and just measure it out into my lotion dispensers.
