Hershey's just came out with a new bar called "Cacao Reserve." It's a 65% cacao dark bar, and it has actual bits of crunchy cacao nibs in it. I wonder if having the nibs means having more dark chocolate value -- antioxidants and all that? It sure tastes like a more serious bar of chocolate. I like it -- not too sweet, but not bitter. Nothing like their Special Dark (which I also enjoy). The nibs are not sweet at all -- they're like little chewy bits of almond or walnut. A very interesting bar.

I'm surprised I haven't heard of/seen this stuff yet - I usually am the first of anyone I know to notice new chocolate bars. Sounds good - I trust Hershey, so I'll keep my eyes peeled and try it if I find some!

I just tried Seeds of Change Bayno (sp?) chocolate bar. It's pricy, but waaaaaay good. It's organic chocolate with cocoa nibs and cinnamon oil in it. Oh, it's 70% cocoa! Very good. I only needed two squares to satisfy my chocolate hunger.

Hershey's has come out wit ha whole lot of new bars in recent years - a reaction to the big chocolate boom: chocoalte is good for health, chocolate is the new wine, all of that.

They also bought Sharfenberger and some other "gourmets," though it's under a manufacturing family, not hershey directly.

And of course they are starting their own line of organics, though these are still not fiar trade, an importnat aspect of chocoalte since child labor is still a factor for chocoalte harvesting, especially on the ivory coast.

So I couldn't wait for Lent to be over and when I saw the Cacao Reserve chocolate bar at 7-11 I went ahead and bought it. I could barely wait until I got home to break it open. I have to say I honestly didn't like it, it actually kind of made my stomach hurt =(. I was very disappointed.

I have read that you have to have at least 70% cacoa or more to actually have that health benefit. And I tried a bar of 72%.... and it wasn't very good frown Have u tried Atkins chocolate bars? I have some and they are really good!

I've heard of this, but because I only like milk chocolate I'm not sure if I'd like it or not. I do have a good friend who adores dark chocolate so I'll definitely ask her about it or if she's even tried it yet.
