I think if you look at virtually every religion or belief out there it comes with it's own set of commandments, and they are all surprisingly the same!

We are domesticated animals, and most domesticated animals develop some sort of patterning (not necessarily conscience) that keeps them from biting the hand that feeds them. This does not mean that they don't have the same primal instinct to protect themselves, but that they bypass that instinct in order to "keep the food source coming."

Humans are very much the same. We will kill to protect our young, protect our territory, or in order to survive. We will also do what our owners (government) tell us to do in order to keep the food source coming.

We will not kill, because like domesticated animals, we have learned that killing each other or our owners have severe consequences to our own survival. But, we will, like attack trained dogs, kill those that our owners tell us to kill. (War)

We are actually not a whole lot different from our animal counterparts.. in fact, we create more damage to our planet and to the means of existence of every other species around us than any other animal on the planet.

We were given the gift of reasoning and thought on a higher level than our sisters and brothers of the animal kingdom. We are the guardians in fact of this planet. We also have the intellect and the understanding to make this planet a place where all life can live in harmony with the natural balance of life.

We have the freedom of choice, independently and collectively to choose to respect and honor all living things, or to selfishly continue to wreak havoc in our world. The choice has always been ours.

So, if you are looking at common religion, what we need to be looking at is a religion that provides harmony and balance with nature, respect and honor for all living things, unity to work together to achieve the first two things, and the tenacity and will power to learn to live without the luxuries in our lives that we know are doing damage to the life around us.

We must find the nature of balance within the balance of nature..

Love and Light..

No. I'm sure they would not have believed me. I probably would have got a thrashing for telling wicked lies! Besides, I was too terrified to tell them or anyone. My abusers were going to kill my dog, and my dog was the only friend I had. I was also filled with guilt, so I wasn't about to tell anyone.

I agree that telling a person the truth is often painful at the time, but I have learned that the pain was far greater when I found out the truth years down the track, after believing and trusting. You feel terribly betrayed, deceived, cheated - all that and more. But I also believe that you cannot tell someone else's truth. That is, it is up to your wife to tell her parents. It should not be told by you. I would have been terribly hurt if I'd heard the truth from someone else in my particular situation.

My heart goes out to you in your sorrow and distress. I've been cheated on, and I know how that feels. So much worse if prostitution is involved.

With gentle thoughts,

Patience.

I was thinking that. You refrained telling your parents because you were expecting no support.
I feel very sad.

this makes great sense. Can we discuss more? Is this idea of common religion practical?

Think of this CDM... With the onset of the Industrial Revolution, people began to forget how to feed themselves. That was the first step toward where we are now. The old farms and family gardens began to fall by the wayside and people began to depend on processed food instead of food that they grew themselves. That was approximately four generations ago. And now, we are really beginning to pay the price.

First of all, people forgot that dirt is alive. Dirt is composed of millions of live and dead organisms that break down and make the soil nutritious for the plants that feed upon it. When pesticides, commercial fertilizers, weedkillers, and other toxins are used on the plants, they are absorbed into the soil, and after several years of planting, the soil itself is dead.

So, the plants that are grown in that soil are no longer healthy, and when we eat them, we are not getting any real nutritional value from them whatsoever.

Animals are fed hormones and estrogens to make them bigger quicker before they are slaughtered for meat. Estrogen does not break down in water, and eventually, the by-products of the humans who eat the meat find their way into the public water supply. And, filters do not filter out estrogen. So it goes right back into the body.

Too much estrogen can cause breast cancer and early puberty in children. Eating unhealthy plant life can cause cancer, bone and tooth erosion, mental and emotional problems etc, etc, etc.

We are eating a regular diet everyday of chemical soup and toxins. It is no wonder that in a world where obesity reigns we are virtually dying because of lack of nutrition.

And, all of this can be prevented. How? When people learn to do one simple task. They need to learn how to feed themselves once more.

But this requires hard work and dedication. It means not using pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and poisions in our gardens. It means allowing the soil to go back to it's natural balance, and it means eating range fed meat with no hormones added.

But, in our world of fast food, fast paced, activity driven, quick fix solutions, we don't have the time to heal the world around us, let alone to heal the world to save the world.

Our planet is quietly dying. The very dirt beneath our feet is dead or dying.. what is left of it that is. The rain forest is out of balance, the arctic glaciers are melting so rapidly that the Intuit people are dying, and the coral reef is bleaching. Animals are being forced to migrate into places where they don't belong, which displaces other animals feeding grounds.

We are living in a rapidly declining world and our governments are just beginning to realize what we are looking at in the very near future.

This planet will stay alive at all costs. Whether you choose to believe it or not.. the earth is a living organism, capable of doing what it needs to do in order to survive..and if getting rid of the parasites that are killing it is the answer, than that is what will happen.

But, there is a chance. There is always a chance. But, that means a world working together in co-operation.. to build a better, stronger, healthier and happier planet. That means putting aside our differences both religious and political and taking a stand when it comes to environmental issues. That means beginning to learn how to feed yourself once again, and how to survive in harmony and balance with the earth.

That is the spiritual quest of all of us who are on this earth today. If we can band together in unity to save one another and this planet.. we just may be able to survive as a species long enough to discover what a wonderful world it can be.

Linda, you speak the truth! You explain the state of our world so well. So few people realize that our planet is a living Being and we are not it's owners. We are not even necessarily the highest form of life, spiritually or intellectually, though we like to think that we are and subject all other life forms to our whims and our greed because we happen to have power over them.

This planet will survive and revive long after we humans are gone.

How different things would be if we all recognized our oneness with all life, and treated it with the respect that is its due. Then we would have a paradise indeed!

Patience.

I read your post and understood what you are saying.

I entirely agree with you.

But can we not act in a small way to spread awareness?
You write lovely english. Mine is full of errors.
Can you begin a blog on this?
I can try to promote the blog.

Hi CDM..Actually I teach that philosophy in my Medicine Wheel class online. Right now it is down for repairs. I just put my Intuitive Tarot class back online, and the Medicine Wheel will be going back up at the end of May.

I also teach offline. I teach all kinds of classes, and one of them is about working with the Earth instead of against it. The class always has a pretty good turn out.

I think that the answer is in the doing. If every family out there would begin to recycle, stop the use of toxic substances in their own yards, join a freecycle group where people post items they don't want and items they do want. Whoever needs the item or has the item to give posts back. And... Presto.. you have an exchange of a perfectly good item for free. I got my stove, refrigerator, table and chairs, bedframe, cat supplies, and tires for my car on freecycle.

Actually freecyle is international I believe. Just go to www.freecycle.org to find the one nearest you, or you can start your own group.

If every family out there grew at least one item of food from a garden, even tomatoes, it would give the earth in that area a chance to regenerate, provided that no chemicals or pesticides were used. The plants would break down naturally and nourish the hungry soil.

Don't use chemicals on your lawns, choose Tyson chicken. It is the best of the worst, or invest on range fed chicken. Better yet, find someone who butchers their own range fed chicken or turkey. But, ask them if they use any hormones in whatever grain they may be using to supplement the diet of the birds.

Make sure your dentist does not use mercury fillings. Mercury is extremely toxic to many people's systems.

There are a whole lot of things that an individual family can do to jump start the earth back to health. But it takes some inconvenience and giving up some of things you may be so very sure that you need.. Like plastic water bottles.

Awareness is the key. Choose people who are environmentally aware for local leaders.. and vote for an environmentally aware President.

Love and Light...

I totally agree Linda.

I have said somewhere else who unhealthy I was in the past. i would get flu's and colds all the time. I would be run down and not very me. That was when I was on processed foods.

Cut out the processed, use my local farmers market where they grow the food themselves, most of them chemical free. I try to grow some of my own things here at home. I don't use fertilizers on the yard. We use organic products.

Now I rarely am ever sick (from flu or cold) and only have problems as it relates to my allergies, asthma or BiPolar. Those things will be ther no matter what I do.

The earth is a living breathing organism. We are only one part of the whole, however since we are one of the largest parts of the whole, what we do affects everything. Once we realize this, then we can change things for the better.
