Most of the work at home opportunities offered are scams. They ask to register for free and then ask to pay for money. They don't give any work and cheat the people spending money for jobs. Even if we don't pay anything for a job, they sell our email address and make money. Then they start spamming to get out inbox full. People should stay away from them,.

Well said. I'm in the process of eliminating all posts for "work at home' jobs. Anyone interested in working at home will seek that information, rather than have it appear in an unsolicited email.

True, most are scams and that is why when someone IS looking for a solid, high integrity company they should verify them through the DSA. If your unfamiliar with the DSA, they are a 90+ year old Washington based organization that shuts down the scams. You have to be invited to be a member and you have to jump through 'many' hoops to be accepted. You have to have open book financials/audits, abide by many rules and regulations for years, before you are invited. Thereafter, to remain, you have to continue to abide by the rules and regulations to stay in their good standing. It is very difficult for a company to meet their standards and to remain there. Thousands apply, but only 180+ in over 90 years have bore their scrutiny and been accepted.

The home based business I have been with for 6 years and afforded me to retire as a single sole supporting mother is with the DSA and now our President sits on their board.

Their site is DSA.org. You should go there and read about what a company has to do to pass their criteria.

Blessings,

Sandy

I think true work at home opportunities come with finding something you enjoy doing and then building your own business rather than signing up with the work-at-home scam people.

I have made beaded jewelry and sold it, I had a home daycare for 10 years and now I'm a freelance journalist, have my own health website and a business selling Juice Plus products. All of these involve setting my own schedule and working at home, which I love.

I think if you want to work at home, you can find a way. Just think of things you enjoy and see if it translates to being at home.

I've known women who sold Avon or Mary Kaye or Watkins. It depends on your interest. Whatever you focus on will grow and there's something satisfying about working for yourself.

I'm always looking for work at home ideas because I'm a college student. I've only found a couple that aren't scams. One of my friends sells Mary Kay and is very successful with that amoung our friends.

Great way for college students to earn money. Read advertisers emails for pay. Costs nothing to sign up.

I am involved in online auctions since many entrepreneurs have found success in the dropshipping industry. This is the dropship directory that helped me start my own business.

Hi Frank,

It's true. So instead of finding jobs to work at home, I were looking for the opportunities that can help me to have my own home based business. Because I can do my business anytime and anywhere I want, I'm my own boss. It's great to me grin

Hey everyone

I agree a lot (but not all) of these home-based things are scams but to be honest you can usually spot the dodgy ones a mile off. There are a number of people successfully running their own home-based business.

Jan, you are right people will seek out this info if they need it but what about if they want to seek it out here. I think there is no coincidence that this thread has received considerably more views than most of the others.

JoanJ is right also, find something you're passionate about. I'm passionate about personal development and growth, both mine and other people's so my business is right up my street. Funnily enough, I think the best way to make money is not too focus on the money but on adding value, in my case to people's lives. You end up doubly rewarded. smile

I looked for a home based business opportunity for 18 months everything I found was a complete scam.
However about 6 months ago I found what I believe to be the opportunity of a lifetime! I started my own business, make my own hours, and make GREAT money working about 10 hours per week.
The company has been around for over 25 years and has the most amazing products.
