For me , being a leader deals with relationships. Once a good relationship is established with the team, managing the team will be easier.I think that the leader/follower team must be a good match in order to function effectively.If the team will not buy-in to what the leader is doing or goal, then it can result to failure or mistrust.

It is worth it to be a leader? Yes if you want to succeed and introduce a change.

Is it worth to be a manager? Yes, if you want to enforce standards.
