We're working on the small here - small humans actually, Dave. I redirected my redirect back to the topic. Babies that can't possibly lie, cheat, steal or lust. Babies that are born deformed, diseased, and in pain. What could possibly merit these punishments for them? What "loving, all-powerful" being can rationalize their suffering when there's no possible way they as individuals deserve it?

Babies do not go to hell. Children under the age of accountability go to heaven.

What is the age of accountability? Just for clarification.

Denise, read "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God," by Jonathan Edwards (mid 1700's). It will just make your day. He brings home the original sin idea by throwing babies into the fires of hell. Nice guy.

He didn't say anything about babies being thrown into hell. He said little children and he didn't back any of that next to last paragraph with scripture as he did throughout the essay.
Little children become accountable to God as soon as they realize they have the freewill to make a decision and when the options of Heaven and Hell become known to them and they knowingly make a decision.
Plus, he didn't put any age groups in there except for "old men and women, middle aged men and women, young people or little children."
So, if you think about it before pooh-poohing what I say because I said it, he went from old, which could mean what 60 and over,
middle aged as 40's and 50's
Young people in 20's and 30's
little children, teen-agers down to around puberty reaching ages.
You threw in the part about babies going to hell.
Mark 10:13-16 says: Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch Him; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the Kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, will by no means enter it." And He took the children up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.
Matthew 19:13-15 says, Then the little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray but the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of Heaven." And He laid His hands on them and then departed from there.
Wait a minute, two different witnesses, two different books of the Bible say the same thing? How can that be? Two different people telling the same lie? They are lies in here, right? Surely, that won't be in there again.
Oh wait, Luke 18:15-17 says, Then they also brought infants to Him that He might touch them; but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them to Him and said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, will by no means enter it."
That paragraph in the link could also be talking about the stages of Christianity as well.
When you become born again, you are a baby in Christianity. As you grow stronger in your walk with the Lord you grow up in Christianity. However, in these stages, if you reject Christ and turn back to the ways of old, you will not enter Heaven.
Different people will take that essay in different ways. I just offered Bible scripture, the Word of God, as evidence of the way I understood it.
However, since I do not know what I am talking about and since the Bible is a fairy tale, let's let the bashing begin....

You are certainly right about the bible being a fairy tale. It is also a grand and great book full of adventure, sex, murder, violence, incest, war and fantasy. Who could ask for anything more.

I didn't say the Bible is a fairy tale, everyone else did. However, I was right about the bashing though plus I note that you didn't have anything constructive to say about what I wrote in response to that article, Pondlady. Why is that? You just rehash what everyone else has said.
How sad it must be to be you that you cannot come up with a lucid argument on your own behalf.

Denise, Have you ever lied? Stolen, even if it was small? Have you ever lusted after someone? If so, you are a sinner and God judges sinners for the sins they have committed. You need Christ to pay the price of death for those sins or you will have to pay it yourself. That is the most hateful, horrible thing I think I've ever heard someone say. If any such cruel spirit is the mark of your god, keep him. I'll find myself a nice drug addict to tag about with. The people condemned by your all powerful, loving god are certainly better company.

Texasdave will be back. There is no way of banning him or it would have been done a long time ago. He always finds a way. He is a pretty sick man and I find it disturbing to see a man being a member of a womens forum.
