After I defeat the Demon Wall, I'm supposed to be able to find a special sword, the Demonsbane. Only I can't find the stairwell that leads to it.

Can anybody help me?

I'm assuming u've defeated the very first Demon Wall and not its 2nd incarnation, am I correct? If I can recall correctly from my experience, I beat its first form but never managed to unlock the two secret paths. Only after I had tackled the 2nd Demon Wall as well was I able to flip the jewel switch on the wall (inside the room where u encounter the 1st form) to gain access to the staircases leading to the Demonsbane whereabouts. I could be wrong though so bear that in mind.

This 1H sword doesn't become widely available until much later in the game. So getting at least two is worth the long trip. But be aware that the chest which contains this sword doesn't always appear when u reach the area where it supposedly lies. Not only that, sometimes u'll get other items or gil instead. Which means u have to save ur game (outside) and when those said outcomes do occur, u'll have to reset the game to attempt the hunt again. Apparently, treasure chests respawn after u move 2 zones away from the area concerned so u might wanna try that out to see if it's quicker. But at that time, I felt that resetting the game was the faster solution.

You have to flip a switch, as Yun Feiyang mentioned. I also do not remember if you have to defeat the second Demon Wall before you use the switch, but I don't think you do. The switch should be behind the spot where you first encounter the Demon Wall.

I agree that reseting the game is much faster than running all the way back.

Also, if you move 2 zones away, the enemies will reset, but you are required to travel 3 zones away to respawn the chests.

I dunno, once I had defeated the first Demon Wall, the initial step I took was to notice if any changes had happened in that area. No activity though.

Then I discovered the switch and pressed it but only a message popped up and nothing was unlocked (forgot what was stated). I think it was only after I'd wasted the 2nd Demon Wall in the next room did the taht particular switch actually functioned. Hmmm...

But no matter, if u can take care of the first Demon Wall, the next one would be nothing anyway.


Ah, my bad. Guess that's why restarting to end up at the save crystal is all the more favourable than having to travel 3 zones away and 3 zones back between each spawned chest.
