Well I gave up on that last treasure and looked at your walk through. Where did you dig up all that data anyway?

Warning: spoiler information ahead (in case anyone else wnated to have a go at the adventure )

....

Some comments:
On the command section I like that you could say "get all" but in some case it's more efficient to say, eg "get bottle and water" because it will pick up the bottle and then be able to get the water in one command. I haven't tested "drop pillow and vase" but it ought to work.

Dwarves:
If you just happen to be adjacent to the dragon, you can kill the dwarf 100% of the time by walking into the dragons room. Throwing the axe is more problematic. Also very important point: you can "throw axe" even if you don't have the axe. The computer inserts a "get axe" implicitily but it counts as only one command for purposes of your time and your lamp usage and doesn't give the dwarf the chance to kill you while reloading.

Pirate's maze:
I would never have got that thing with the rod and the crystal bridge but fortunately you don't need it to get to the pirate's maze. I can shorten your exit time a little through this maze. Try "out, N" after you get to the chest if you want to exit at the Brink of Pit (for access to xyzzy). If you want to exit in the Hall of Mists walk past the Brink of Pit with "W,W,W,E,E,W,up".

Oil / lamp
I don't understand how you can refuel the lamp with oil when it is electric?

Watering plant
You can just say, "Water plant". The nearest water is probably the reservoir beyond the mirror. There's a secret entrance "up" from the Slab Room. It's only (from west end of room), "W, up, N, N" and then to get back "S,S,down,S". Getting to the other place would take about double that time.

Dragon
Incidentally you can get past the dragon without killing it if you turn your lamp off and just walk in the right direction. This doesn't work for the troll or the snake. Of course with the trick you can kill the dragon early on(If you try to throw the trident at the dragon it gives you a hint). I'd grab the rug early on along with the ingot, bars, coins and jewelry drop off 4-5 treasures fast with PLUGH and only then pick up the rod.

Troll
There is an alternative method of getting past the troll (without losing treasure that is). The troll accepts payment in advance. Give him the eggs. Get some more eggs for the return tarrif and only then cross the bridge. The bear carries on following you throughout the caves -- even throught the "tight squeeze" to PLOVER. He doesn't seem to slow the dwarf down sadly... but something does. The dwarf definitely quits attacking you so much after a while....

Maps
You missed out a couple of rooms in the secret level. Down from the secret E-W canyon there's a tight canyon. It doesn't do anything but connect back to the Bedquilt. Also there's the other secret level "up" from the Bedquilt which connects to the Pirate's Maze (appears to be a random room you enter into?) and to the window room on the other side of the mirror. Again this has no real purpose although I've used it as a short cut to the maze.

Where do I get ANY data for my walkthrough? I play the game Remember, Adventure was the first computer game I ever played and I used to play it non-stop. It was just a matter of getting into it a bit before all the old memories came right back

You can't refuel the lamp with oil. You get new batteries for it from the battery vending machine

If the bear follows you back across the bridge, that's a flaw in this version of the game. In the original version, he would crush the bridge with his weight.

The rest of your shortcuts are great!

Drugging the dogs is right! I love the humor in those Monkey Island games. Tho sometimes it really does turn into a "try everything everywhere" to see what bizarre thing works.

It's a close contest! First to 10 points wins!

Well five out of the six you named were right, it's Sampson not Luigi. Unless there's some secret Luigi character that I didn't know about! I love that game, it's tons of fun. And since you did get 3 right, I'll give that one to you.

Which has us at a tie!

I'm losing track which games I've asked questions about already! I don't think I hit Planescape Torment yet, which was one of my favorites.

Question 22: In Planescape Torment, after you beat the Deva and agree to spare his life, he tells you what the key and portal are to the Fortress of Regrets. What are they?

Well this one was easier. Again I haven't ever played the game -- on the other hand if I had played all these games I wouldn't have much use for the prize I suppose

But I found the answer on the Bella Online computer games site

"Vow to spare his life, and he says the torus is above the spine - the mortuary is the portal, and the key is to carry regret on your skin"

I *think* the portal is a place and the key is a set of words....

Yup, that's it!

Congratulations!! Saturn gave you a good run for your money, but you came back to grab the prize

Email me your name and address, to gaming@bellaonline.com and I'll put the CDs and manuals in the mail to you!

Saturn, you came really close with 9, so if you email me your info, I'll send you some CDs for a runner up prize

You deserve a fond pat on the back for trying a little bit You get my free help on Adventure, if you haven't played through it yet!

I put up my record on the first few tries as something people could compare with.... the history of the game was quite interesting too.

Yeah, that was quite a close finish. I really thought it was over when I looked at the site after a few days off-line and saw someone had only one question to go!

Well... off to play some Dungeon Siege
