I was brushing up a bit on my algebra and I came across this. Though it is about algebra, it has an ironic relation to being single:
Where does the process of breaking into factors stop? Eventually, a number is broken down into a set of factors that are all prime numbers. A prime number is one that can only be divided evenly by 1 and itself. These numbers have always held a very special place in mathematics -- the fact that they cannot be broken down into factors gives them a unique quality of completeness or wholeness.
If you look at factors and break them down into prime numbers, it's like being in a relationship is the factor and breaking down (or breaking up) into a prime number would mean being single. And as prime numbers hold a special place in mathematics, so do singles in the world. Those of us who are proud enough to stand on our own for the rest of our life (if we have to) shine amongst the rest with our unique quality of completeness or wholeness. I thought that bit was so interesting, I just had to share it. =)
