Yes, that is the common term for it....medically, clinically, you are deemed to have died if there is no heartbeat, no breathing and no brain activity..... But it is at this point that medical teams pull out the stops and do everything they can to resuscitate.... heart fibrilator, oxygen, adrenalin to help the heart kick-start....but whilst the person is "out of it" and on the medical couch being worked on frantically by all these medics, clinically, they are dead. It is during this moment that people undergo these 'Out of Body' experiences....

If you are brain dead, you are dead. No near death. Please check your facts. After brain death, doctors normally do not try anything but send the body home.

CDM, such experiences are known as 'near-death experiences' I didn't call them this, it's the name they go by, and it's how they are described. When a patient completely 'flatlines', they are said to have 'died'. I didn't invent the terminology, nor the conditions.

The state I have described is exactly as it was described in the books I have read on this matter.

Sorry, but that's all I can tell you.

CD - as a former medical professional, I can tell you that most doctors I know do not give up at flat-line. They will try for at least another 5-10 minutes minimum to recessitate.

I know of one of my patients who I brought off the rig to the ER who was flatline with no signs of life, was worked on by us for the 30 minutes it took to reach the ER, then another 45 at the ER. He was "clinically" dead, but was revived.

Going back to the thread-

According to Hinduism, both heaven and hell exist. There is graphic description of both including areas etc. in Srimad Bhagwad Purana.

EKG, heart monitor. In the ER we don't hook them up to monitor brain waves in an emergency situation.

Hi, Jase, I saw your myspace, your book store etc.
I want to learn more about Gays.
Do gay people are involved in sex with their partner, or the relationship can be at an emotional level only?

CD, Feel free to ask this in the GLBT forum. I don't want to take away from the Spirituality forum by discussing an off-topic thing, unless Others wish to discuss it here.

you can go to the gay lesbian Forum by clicking GLBT in my signature line and then clicking on forums or go up top and Gay Lesbian is listed under News.
