I would love to take the train all the time. But here, it costs the equivalent of 2 gallons of gas for a round-way ticket - more than I can afford at the moment. Plus, the train schedule is so spread out - sometimes there isn't a train for another hour - and my schedule right now is not set in stone, so I'd probably end up waiting around for a train and then being late to my next job.
Some day, when I have that job on a more permanent basis, I will take the train every day ... but until then, it's a boring 1/2 hour commute.
I wish that Metra would expand their schedule or reduce the price. Because it certainly doesn't take me 2 gallons to drive as far as I go on the train.

Stupid reasons to have kids? Well, I'm sure I posted this before, but it is so ridiculous that it deserves further mockery.
When I first moved here to Germany and I couldn't find a job (the supply of jobs doesn't quite meet up with the demand), I decided to just be a housewife. One of the other military wives said to me, "Well, now you have all this free time and nothing to do, so you should have a baby!"
Excuse me? Boredom is a reason for giving birth? Wow. I feel sorry for her kids.

Sense of humour and intelligence - sounds to me that is more of a CF trait!

Let's see...4 kids...good. 1 to take care of her when she's old (because of course kids always take care of their parents) and three others to wipe the butts of us CFs when we're in the old folks' home and can't do it ourselves

We're going to have to get over our privacy issues at some point it looks like, with all this butt-wiping that's going to be happening eventually.

I myself plan on being a crazy old lady - whether real or acted. Me too Ingilbert! I can't wait to be grumpy and cranky and have people just have to deal with it. Shall we all form a Childfree Coot Commune when we're old?
