I think there are a lot of people who think, well, I don't want kids now, so I'm going to abort this pregnancy, but I will want them one day ...

I agree bassgrrl. My girlfriend and I are also pro choice. We also are firm believers in the saying "against abortion? support family planning"

That's why they have to keep having babies. So that as soon as the one kid is not a baby anymore, there's another to replace it.

This reminds me of a co-worker who LOVES babies. Well, year after year she would pump out a kid. Well, now they are all teens and young adults all living at home with her and her life is a living hell!!!!!!!

Guess no one told her they grow up one day. LOL.

I've never understood why someone would want to keep having babies....it's like they don't realize they grow up! Anyway, babies to me are boring, high-maintenance and at times uncute (and most of them look like Winston Churchill!)

Mike -

Thanks for the link! I did have to drive into Chicago today to take my sugar glider to the vet and noticed they've added a new bike lane to that street - the problem is, the streets there are so narrow, I would be terrified to ride my bike in the bike lane! I'd either get hit by a car or ride into a parked car!

I'm glad I live in the 'burbs!

I wish more people used alternative, greener means of travel instead of hopping in their cars for the shortest of trips. My boyfriend and I managed without a car quite happily for years - we used trains to commute to work, and we walked to the station (a 25 minute walk). Eventually, my boyfriend's office moved out of London and the train was no longer a viable option, so he had to get a car. We still walk/use public transport when we can though. As for me, I'm a complete anomaly - I don't even own a driving licence.

I think part of the problem, here in the UK at least, is the prohibitive cost, and overcrowding, of public transport - it's no wonder some people prefer to use their cars rather than start their day in packed-sardine style...

This particular woman would break her neck to hold a baby everytime someone would bring a baby into the office. Now she is a walking zombie. One of her daughters just had her second baby at the age 18 and they all live at home with her, mind you. One of her sons is an alcoholic and lives in a tent in her backyard and sneaks into the house to steal liquor. Her husband gives her no assistance AT ALL. I know if she could turn the clock back she would reconsider having all those kids.

"Same here - pro-choice but anti-dumbass."

HA -- Love it! Has anyone else here seen the movie "Idiocracy"? That's what comes to mind with the woman referenced in the previous post.

I'm with you karenb. I hear women who say "I have to have another baby...I just LOVE babies"... so what happens when they aren't babies anymore??? That sure must make her other older kids feel unwanted. Every time a new baby is born, I'm sure the older kids get shuffled down on her priority list. Babies don't stay babies.
Why don't those women who love BABIES just get a job in a daycare? They will have a never ending stream of babies to take care of there, and it's a lot less expensive too :-)
