Did anyone see America's Next Top Model? If not, tune in next week because two plus size models made it into the top 12!

Yes I did. Whitney and Diana are their names I believe. Diana is like 6'1". And Whitney is very positive and upbeat. They are both lovely and both cover different looks. They fall into the usual professional plus size range of 10 - 14. I really hope at least one of them makes it to the final three or even better, wins.

The plus size models in the past have been cut pretty quickly despite being talented knock-outs.

Quite a few interesting personalities this cycle.

I'm actually quite disappointed there wasn't more fuller women. I wrote an article a while back about this season of ANTM as a heard all thirteen models would be fuller and that's definitely not the case. It is nice not to have the token plus size woman though.

Excuse my ignorance but I do not watch TV, but are you saying that size 10-14 is considered plus size?

Yes, according to "industry" standards 10-14 is considered plus size. Personally, I consider 14 and up plus size.

We have different sizing..it gets quite confusing to hear size 12 and 14 referred to as plus sizes! has there been a change in recent years in the US/Canada to what measurement constitutes what size? I know they were planning a review here because average sizes have changed so much since the last time measurement were assigned sizes.

I think its terrible that 14 is considered plus size when the average woman is a 14.

There's nothing wrong with being considered plus size. 8, 10, 14 or otherwise.

It is a bit of a label though. It's sad that women cannot simply go in and select the correct size and fit for themselves without being classified as this or that. I don't think we would be half as self-concious if we didn't have to go into a different section of the store to buy our clothes.

Back to the ANTM topic though...Diana just didn't seem to have enough confidence when she was competing. The judges don't seem to like the "sweet girls" - I guess because top models have to face so much criticism or something. smirk

Whitney seems to have the confidence and attitude, though. And since Tyra has been working so much on plus-size on her talk show, I think she'll be pulling a lot harder for Whitney than for the plus models in the past years. Maybe the other judges will loosen up (at least Janice Dickenson's not on there anymore!)
