I THINK I made a big mistake. I have naturally very light (almost white) blonde/gray hair. I decided that I wanted to have dark red hair, wanting it for years.

The color turned out a deep burgundy which is harsh and my wrinkles stand out, I have very fair complexion. Also very dry (no shine) at all, she used Wella, not Clairol! Infusion has helped a little.

My question, I would like to get frost/streaks, etc, what shade should I go for and what is the best commercial product to put health & shine back into my hair?

Thanks so much for your help!!

Hi. Hope this helps. I have been blonde (dyed job) for years and decided to go red because my hairdresser said the bleach was ruining my hair (and besides my husband loves redhead.)So my hairdresser said it would take 2 applications to get the color to hold where my hair was light and dyed so much. So I had her color my hair once and then again 3 weeks later. The color lasted 2 days with the second application!!!! I was so mad for one- wasting all that money and two - beleiving her.Well, I ended up hating my hair. Especially after being a blonde for so many years. I've been using cheap shampoo and alternating it with Pantene(sp?) Pro vitamin. The cheap (Suave) will strip the hair color as much as possible but use a deep conditioner afterwards. I cannot go back to blond so I'm tying to go towards a light brown. When I get the nerve up I'm going to buy a light brown and apply it myself. Hopefully that will blend in with the gray coming out!

Hi. I replied to your note but unfortunately this was my first time so I don't think I replied correctly! Hopefully you can read it on the site.
Thanks
McLaughlin

Judi emailed me and I sent her a reply, but I though you all might like to hear my ideas too.

The burgandy may fade as you shampoo it but definately a highlight would help. Pleas go to a hairdresser for this because it might be tricky lightening it. You wouldn't have to bleach it all the way out, just to a lighter red or strawberry blond. I suggest lots of highlights.
