I've often heard that you could use maynaise, beer, vegetable oil, and others to help your hair. How much of this is true, if any??

Thanks so much to any that reply!

Beer is one of those gossip things. It can be used a little bit (just a very very very little bit) but don't pour beer straight on your hair.
Olive oil applied to your hair, leaving it in and sleeping with it an entire night can be good, but only do this once a month or so.
Mayo is a classic and it does help, but you have to be in the mood to use the stuff for this, which I really don't. But it's full of proteins and oil which help your hair.

There was a home remedy thread around here somewhere, you might want to dig deeper into the forum to find it.

Actually, beer used to be used for conditioning. It used to have brewers yeast that, supposedly, did benefit the hair. I have heard that the beer they make now doesn't have much of it in it.

I know that many people use them but, personally, I think olive oil and mayonnaise are only good for lubricating the hair shaft. I don't believe that the nutrients in those products are in a form that can be absorbed by the hair.

For the damage we do to our hair now - color, perms, heat styling - the best repair is professional conditioning treatments from companies that study the biology of hair.

What specific products do you recommend for each procedure we do with our hair now?

What for colored hair?
What for permed hair?
What for styled hair?
etc.

For a wonderful shine and hair loss as well, I like to use essential oil of rosemary. You just add 2 or three drops to your shmpoo and rinse as usual. While you are at it you can add a couple of drops to your soapy washcloth and be invigorated for the day. !

I use rosemarinus officinalis mainly to enhance brain capacity and brain activity... never thought about using it on hair.
