Oh yes...many times. I've "seen" my dad walk into the dining room just as the family was sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner, just as he always did. I've felt my mother in the bathroom when there were two or three toddlers laughing in the tub together. I've felt her touch me when I was doing dishes at her old sink. I cannot believe they really leave us because of the many encounters I have had with them after they passed. These little visits are not the product of wishful thinking. I wasn't thinking about them at all at those particular times. I would have discounted the experience had I been actually thinking about them when it happened. It's a lovely thing.

I won't go into actual detail, but many times as I do my research I know the person or family memebers I am researching are next to me, actually putting ideas into my head. I'll be going into one direction of looking, when I Hear, not out load, but within, a loud "NO", and go to a different place and there is the info. There are many more examples, I know for sure if the veil was lifted our ancestors would be at times with us.

When I am really really upset I feel my grandmother stroke my hair. I won't even be thinking of her and then I feel this gentleness about my head and a strong feeling of her presence is there comforting me.

I really believe that there is "life" after death but of course I can't explain it.

3 years ago this December, 3 days before I spent the night in ICU because of a bad episode with my blood pressure I had what I KNOW was a near death experience.

I was sitting on the couch just watching TV when all of a sudden I could start feeling my breathing getting slower and slower. I suddenly felt myself leaving my body and heading down our hall towards my children's bedroom.

The next thing I remember was this "inner voice" asking me if I was "ready to go". It wasn't an audible voice but it was definitely distinct. I remember saying to myself, "NO" and having this feeling that I knew all I needed to know, and that somehow there was this connection between all of us and then it was just over.

I haven't told too many people about that. I did tell my Priest but he just kind of blew me off.

So, I have no idea what might happend tous after we die or where we go or if we even go anywhere, but I know there is something happening after we physically die.

Go talk to anyone who works with children in a cancer unit, they will tell you some stories about the kids. Kids don't know enough to lie or make up stories, They are too sick to be trying to think of "fooling" use. Some of them come close to death or during surgery and tell stories of seeing loved ones that have already died. Or they see themselves on the table when they are considered dead and brought back. I know we still exist after we die and we will see loved ones again. That is how I cope with my grandmother's death. I don't know how people can cope not beliveing this and losing a loved one. It gives me comfort to know I'll see them again and they might be there watching over me.

Wow! I am so glad I found this because I had something happen and I have been wondering recently whether it was real or just my mind playing tricks on me.

My dad died in November of '05 of lung cancer and one of my brothers died in February of this year unexpectedly. I did have a communication from my father on 12/03 of 05 in which he told me that my brother was going to die. I didn't realize at the time that that is what he was telling me, but told one of my other brothers about the dream and when our brother died, we had an "Aha!" moment.

So what happened back in July of this year that I wasn't sure happened because while I do believe that those from the "other side" do visit us, I didn't know (and didn't think) they could actually touch us was that I went to bed one night and I was lying on my right side. I wasn't real tired, but knew I had to get up early so I was trying to go to sleep. I had my eyes shut and was just lying there, nice and quiet, clearing my mind. The next thing I know, I feel a hand on my head. My eyes fly open but I just lay there, not moving. My husband wasn't home and my children were in their rooms, so I was all alone in my bed but that hand felt so heavy on my head that I could have sworn that someone in physical form was there.

So I continued to lie there, not moving, just taking in everything and I know that it was my dad's hand because it large and it was heavy, almost clumsy as was my father with physical touch on this earth. I just "knew."

I don't know why I started questioning this just recently, but these posts have really helped me put my doubts to rest.

Jennifer,

What a wonderful experience. Thank you for sharing it. I think one of the key things you said here is that you were clearing your mind. I think when that happens we are actually more open to "feel" and experience things that we don't usually because our mind is going 900 miles an hour.

Cherish the experience and know that your dad is checking in on you.

It is funny, but there is so much in my 44 years that I just do not remember. You know, the little things, the "this and that" of life, but I remember almost in a crystal clarity the moments of "unexplainable occurences" that have happened in my life. Even though one of them was almost 30 years ago I remember them almost like they happened yesterday.

I have seen and felt spirits since I was a child. My mother died when I was 16, I knew when my phone rang at 10:00 p.m. on the 10th day of October what I would hear. Just one hour and ten minutes before that, she was standing at the foot of my bed. I think there is a significance to the 10's- since then no matter where I have lived, all of my clocks in a matter of time will gain 10 minutes. I have never seen her again, but periodically I will smell the perfume she wore, which was called "heaven sent"
