HI,
I have a finch(female). She was a baby from mom`s first batch.Anyway she seems to have lost a few feathers from around her tail feathers.I can see where the feathers go into the skin.Is this just regular moulting or something i should be worried about? She is still very active. We have 4 finches in a big cage 2 males and 2 females. They get along great.Hope someone can answer my question.
thanks :music: :music:

Normally, you don't see the skin when a bird is moulting, so - this doesn't sound normal. Is there any sign of pinfeathers starting in this bald spot? Could she be plucking herself - or could another bird be plucking her?

When you say around her tail feathers - are you referring to the preening gland area?

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.I noticed last night mom was the one that took the feathers.I have put her in a seperate cage till the feathers grow back which will probably be in a few days. She is still active. Thanks again.
