Quick Cure is good for ich, just remove any carbon if you have it.

Did I miss anything?

Jilly, her scales are only just beginning to stick out a bit. Not horribly pineconed yet, but working toward it.
This is really more than just fat as I can actually SEE right through her because of her opaqueness..(is that a word?)..and there is nothing in there..no eggs or..fatness! Just fluid.

eeps, sorry, Emg. it does sounds like dropsy. Oh well. She's been a good companion fish and I know you will make her comfortable as needed.

Lol Jilly, funny thing is...she seems just fine! Very active and her color is great! Go figure! I have taken salt out of her water, don't know if that matters or will do any good or not...it'll be interesting to see how this developes..just for the sake of learning something new if nothing else. She doesn't appear to be suffering at all at this point. If she does start going downhill, I'll euthenize her. No point in putting her through a whole rigeramole of stressful treatments.

I agree. she's a cool girl. And right now, she's got the top fish pictures except for the fabulous Finneas...

I recently bought Rid-Ich for my betta. On the bottle, it says only use for 3 days. I have a feeling that it's going to take longer than 3 days for it all to clear up, so is it safe to use it just until it all goes away?? I was also wondering how often I should change the gravel? I clean the bottom up with a turkey baster every time I do water changes, but changing the gravel every time seems too much. I also added silk plants today, and was wondering how often I should take them out and clean them? And when I do clean them, should I just run them under water? I also bought Doc Wellfish's Aquarium Salt, and since I only have a 1 gallon tank, I only put in water with about 5 pieces that were pre-dissolved. Is this too much? Or even too little? I am soo confused right now!

help needed...

my betta jen, has not been herself lately and well I dont think she is going to make it through the weekend. I am contemplating "letting her go", I can't bare to watch her suffer. Has anyone had to deal with this, if so what's the way to "pull the plug"

desperately seeking help....

Rach,
You don't need to change the gravel every time, only if it has a lot of yucky stuff on the bottom, and since you're doing such a good job of keeping it clean, you probably only need to do it once in a while.

As for salt, I suspect you've got enough in for now. I try not to put too much in the water, but a little is a good thing. 5 pieces is not a lot. <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

CR,
What is Jen doing to make you feel she's dying? If you truly need to put her down, put her into the freezer for about 1/2 hour, it's humane, she'll just go to sleep and not wake up again.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

Yeah, I heard that putting the fish in the freezer is painless and humane.
