The size of perm rods depends on your hair. Your hairdresser will know.

I talked to the hairdresser today. She didn't find it a good idea to perm it now if I want to perm it before the holiday in June. The period between 2 perms would be too little, she didn't want to take the risk, so I was happy that she told me the truth. smile
In the meantime, the coloring/glazing can wear out and I can prepare my hair for the perm in June. I'll see if I can put a before-after picture up when it's done.

I didn't specifically mention wanting more curl, but she did say that after that period of time, it was normal that the perm would have been worn out. That is something I don't understand that well, I thought a perm was just that: permanent...
I'm not an expert, but could it be possible that she used the neutralizer too long?

Body perms weaken over time on most hair. So that is normal. Sometimes very curly perms will stay in until they are cut out.

If the nuetraliser is left on too long, it will be very drying to the hair and that will cause the curl to be weak. It will feel 'over processed.'

I'll certainly ask for tighter curls and reapply them every six months or so, in order to make sure the curl doesn't wear out too much and maybe some day stay in there, like I would want it to be. As of now, the only thing I can do is wait and practice patience, and pamper my hair the best way I know to.
Anything you could recommend doing?

Hmmm, I've been thinking a bit about it. Since perms and more specific neutralisers dry out the hair, would using moisturizing conditioners be one way to prepare my hair? Or could I use something else?

I would use protein conditioners and moisturizers.

Just like I thought.
One more question: what could I do in the meantime to make the waiting process a little bit less hard then it sometimes already is?

Take up knitting? smile
I don't think there is anything that helps the waiting process when you want to change your hair.

LOL, knitting?
No thanks. laugh

I mean with my hair. The only thing that I could do for instance is after washing my hair is braiding it and let it dry, take it out and use some spray to keep it in place. Or use benders and sleep with them overnight. I was thinking of stuff like that, just to fill the gap between now and when I get the perm just before the great vacation period starts.

Those are great ideas. Just spending more time in styling and trying different styles while you are waiting. You might try some simple updos.
