Hello! I'm pretty new to being a bird owner. I have three baby conures (2 suns and 1 jenday)that I got in May of this year. I look forward to learning from all of you!

Welcome Jean! Wow - you really jumped in with both feet by getting 3 conures at once. We have quite a few people who will probably be talking to you and would love to answer questions to help you learn about your birds. Feel free to jump into any conversation & let us know how you feel.

Thanks for the welcome, Mavis!
Yes, I don't really like to get any sort of animal in singular fashion. I feel like they can always use a buddy. And I didn't want to get them one-at-a-time and stress out the current senior resident. LOL!
Actually, I had gone to Petsmart to buy a budgie. (I had one as a child that finally died of old age, and I have missed him over the years.) But, when I got to the pet store, I saw a Sun Conure and a Jenday Conure playing tug of war with a carrot strip, and I was sunk. Since they obviously were already buddies, it seemed right to get them both, (gulp!) along with a cage large enough for a dozen of the little critters. LOL! Two months later I was introduced to my new Sun, Amy, and she so obviously wanted to go home with me that I simply couldn't resist. Luckily, all three are still pretty much babies, so they bonded well together. And it doesn't seem to have hurt their bond with me either. They all love their "mommy" time. I have loads of photos of them on my site, as soon as I figure out how to add the link here. In the meantime, here is Bacall:

Hi and that's a really pretty bird!

I have 3 budgies myself; one is pale yellow, one is albino, and the third is an English Budgie whose name is Nigel. The other two are female. They are very great fun, especially when they all fly back and forth!

Birds are great, aren't they? I love to listen to the wild ones too. Sometimes my budgies outscreech the wild ones but I love the little buggers!

Hello, Owllady! Bacall thanks you for the compliment! Now Bogie is demanding his turn on the page, and of course Amy wants equal time as well.

I may still go get some budgies though. I'm quickly turning into a bird freak!

Your birds are beauties! I too started out with a parakeet. They are great birds! Currently I am mom to a meyers parrot: Miss P and a blue and gold: Hannah. I think I would like to have a canary (singer) next, I just have to talk my hubby into it LOL. I am going to the Tulsa Oklahoma bird fair in a couple of weeks, so who knows?! Connie in Texas

Your birds are beautiful Jean & you take terrific pictures. What did you use for the background in Bacall's picture. I love it. I've got to work on the backgrounds for my birds pictures.

Thanks, Mavis. That is cotton quilt fabric. It's called "Starry Night", and most quilt stores carry it.

Connie, sorry I missed your post! I think canaries are so beautiful! But I'm thinking they may be just a bit more delicate bird than I want. Budgies seem so hardy somehow. I love finches too, but have avoided them for the same delicacy issues as canaries. I'm not sure that my concerns are valid, but I'd hate to bring in birds that I didn't think I could take good care of.
