Just wanted to know if I could sell crocheted items made from patterns in books? Someone approached me wanting to buy an afghan I was making. Any information would be appreciated.
As far as I know (and someone, please correct me if I'm wrong), as long as you don't sell the pattern itself, it is perfectly all right to sell the product. It's no different than selling things at a bake sale that you made from a recipe in a cook book.
Hello - check and see what the terms of the copyright are in the book. Sometimes people publish patterns or designs for you to make for your own use but not to sell - however all is not lost if this is the case- simply email the designer and ask for their permission. I am sure that most designers will be delighted to give their ok for you to sell a one off.
I'm not an expert in copyright by any means and would welcome input from someone who knows more about this matter...?
