[quote=DirtyMartiniAfter skimming thru this tread, sounds to me like the frog is a troll. [/quote]

That's exactly what I thought, too.

Yep because we say we still wouldnt want a child because money is not the reason we choose but frog still presses the issue. I dont see why. We answered with fair enough reasons.

I think that Frog is actually a 19-year-old guy. He is probably fresh off his first semester of college, where he took Philosophy 101. He thought he'd come over here and try it out on us ;-)

I'm so ashamed!

I took the bait! Also, a couple of my other CF forums had just gone through an upheaval. I didn't want to believe it was happening here.

The most annoying part was that one of the people who'd joined the CF Meetup I organize was actually a regular ol' breedery guy, just looking for a woman with no kids "yet"...I had an email dialog with him, then he kicked up a fuss when I told him that people with no kids "yet" are definitely not CF, so hit the road! Who needs it?

All that, plus PMS? Bad timing!

Elise

I like our weather right now - it warmed up. We had zero-degree weather for over two weeks before that.

But now it changes from hot to cold and back twenty times in one day.

Gloria: No one actually said that you need a billion dollars to have a child... but a question was posed : "If you had a billion dollars, would you have a child?"... I guess the theory was that if you had a lot of money, then that might change your mind.
I think the latest estimates are that it costs approx $250,000 per child until the age of 18 (this includes food, clothing, healthcare, activities, housing, transportation, increased vacation costs etc.) This does not include the cost of college, supporting them past the age of 18 or paying for a wedding.

Personally, I'd rather keep the $250,000.

I agree kids are expensive and thats my big reason for not having them, but I take some issue with that 250000 figure. Yes kids are very pricey but I bet lots of that figure comes from extras that kids dont really need. A million and one after schools, lots of expensive gifts. As pointed out previously on this site parents are getting too much stuff for thier kids. Im a teacher and in my expereience adults often throw money at kids as a way of not dealing with them. Most young children would get more out of an imaginiative game with a parent then a video game or fancy toy. I think kids are very expensive, more then I want to spend, but I think you can raise a child and spend less then that figure ( I know parents who do it). People at this time in our society our spending crazy and spending much to much on everything, kids included
