If you do, then how was your adjustment to suddenly having them in your life? How old were you all? I was the youngest of two, and 11 years old, when my parents adopted two children that were 6 and 7. It rocked my world in good ways and bad. I am interested to hear other people's stories as I am beginning to work through the affects that adoption had on my childhood!

My youngest brother was adopted by my father (parent's divorced when I was 5) when I was 17. He was about 6 weeks. I was getting ready to marry my first husband and my nephew/brother was my step-sisters first child. I had my first child 2 years later so my daughter and my brother have grown up together. Kind of wierd but it works:) People even tell us how much we look/act alike which makes us both laugh!

That is great! I was 14 when my parents adopted a 4 month old baby (the 3rd child they adopted, but the first baby) and I was thrilled! Her and I are still close, and I think I might even spoil her a bit. It is funny, because we act a lot alike- the only difference is that she is Asian and I am white! Aside from that you would never know that we weren't blood related. smile I love having a baby sister.

My younger brother is adopted. I was about 10 when he came to live with us (he was 11 months old). He was actually fostered for a few years before we could adopt him. I don't think the transition was any different than had he been born into the family. Despite the age difference, he and I are very close.

I think my Dad is truly one of the greatest men in the world. In fact, I am certain he has a place next to God reserved for when he gets to heaven. He is a remarkable, hard-working, smart, extremely ethical man. And my brother is exactly like him. A lot can be said for one's upbringing :-)
