Does anyone have a favorite hook? I prefer working with metal as I like the cool feel - however I know lots of people who prefer acrylic for the opposite reason!

I love my #7 hook in steel and probably all of the aluminum ones.

I love my Graydog wooden hooks. I find that the larger and longer shaft is much easier for me when my arthritis acts up. And besides, they are beautiful.

Wood, wood and more wood. The older I get, the more I like; the older and more used they get, the more I like. I have develpoed some arthritis in my hands over the years and like the natural warmth of the wood. I have a full set of steel hooks "00" through "16" with wood handles, custom made. And a full set "C" through "S", all wood, that I have bought off eBay and other sites on the web. I wouldn't trade them for anything and have given away most of my other hooks. I find that the shorter the better, with somewhat fat grips as I have very tiny hands, so better balance. I have a couple of Graydogs, but prefer something a little shorter than what they offer. I also prefer the "Boye" open hook style as opposed to the in-line "Bates" hook style.

I've only ever worked with aluminum and acrylic and frankly I don't really have a preference. While I'm working with my aluminum hooks I love them and find switching to an acrylic clumsy and annoying, but once I've worked a few rows with my acrylic, switching back to the aluminum feels the same way.
