I just received an email regarding finding employment in the field of accounting - anyone with a recent success story that they would like to share?

I wish someone would tell me. For the past 12 years, I have been a retail store manager. I just received my AAS Accounting. I got laid off Xmas weekend. Even though I have a degree and I am still persuing my BA, I can't seem to get anyone to hire me because I have no working experience even though I am at the top of my class and know QuickBooks. Any ideas on how I can get in a job as a beginner?

Have you tried going through a temporary agency or a temp to perm agency that places accountants and bookkeepers?

Knowing QuickBooks is a valuable skill for the small business owner - most bookkeeping jobs I have seen lately list knowing QuickBooks as one of the criteria for applying for the job.

What about your resume? Does it hi-light the accounting duties you must have performed as a retail manager?
