Hi, I'm glad Theodore is fine now! I love his name! How did you name him? What color is he? Yes, it's true - his water is too cold. Do you have an aquarium thermometer on or in his bowl? What size is his bowl? How long have you had him? Where did you get him? How old is he?
Can you describe exactly how he was acting when you said that he was acting all "weird"? You know, even though they do sell bowls for Bettas, it's much safer and healthier for him in a fish tank with a filtration system to keep the water cleaner. You can get an aquarium heater of the correct size for the size of tank you get him, too. You can read an article about that if you would like to. It's here on the Fish Site at BellaOnline.com and gives some interesting, useful advice on that topic.
That happened to one of my Betta fish once and I was so worried about him - and saddened - and then he was perfectly normal and fine the next day! After that, I observed that at night, he would go crazy and swim around his tank acting all nuts while he was trying to "spar" with his little "nephew" as I call him. (He has a little Betta friend in a tank next to him.) They have a ball playing with each other - from behind the safety of the walls of their tanks, of course; but they still have a fake "battle" to show who's the smartest and fastest and toughest little guy: and in the process of this display of strength and beauty, he was sometimes crashing into his plants and rocks. I guess he ruffled some of his scales, but they went back down flat the next day after he calmed down and had something to eat and got some rest and had his daily routine.
How is Theo doing now? I hope he is happy and healthy again - and you too! I know it can be hard on us Betta parents when our fishy kids are not feeling well!
