aw man!! i spent hours and hours making a beautiful asymetrical poncho, made to the specifications of the buyer, a nice mesh pattern with some neat little designs. i worked for two days (about 7 hours total) just on the loop fringe. she wanted "cocoa" in cotton. so i did it up in peaches and cream and dyed it tonight. and some of you may recall the LAST time i dyed something, it was eaten by the washing machine. well!! i learned my lesson from that. this time i agitated it for one hour on the 'delicate/hand wash' cycle. once again, the color is great. but this time, everything dyed but two itsy bitsy tiny spots on one of the tassles is white, not cocoa. egad!! every time i dye something, there's something not right about it in the end, but always something different each time. is this an omen??? maybe i should give up that dream of alpacas and sheep and spinning wheels and dye baths in my retirement years...maybe i'm not ment to dye, and should just leave it to the professionals.

I am so sorry to hear that! Hugs to you......there must have been something on the yarn in those two spots for it not to absorb the dye. I don't have any solutions for you, just hugs.

Hey my Dear, could you color the tiny spots with the brown felt tip marker for Laundry marking ?

Bless you ,

Good one Mother Hen, also try using instant coffee. Don't give up on dyeing things. I have been reading up on it and have found out that actually using your washing machine isn't really a good idea, of course I have never done it I am just reading about it. It seems that large stainless steel pots are best.

That is a real heart breaker! But don't give up.
Eva is right about the stainless steel pots. I picked mine up on sale at a grocery store but I imagine places like Walmart carry them too. I've used tea bags as well.
