How do I sew a braid on my pillow? Can I use the monogram presser foot?

I have a Brother's Computerized EX660 sewing machine. I am making a heart pillow with the word Amour (in cursive) on the front. The problem is that I do not know how to sew it on. The pattern tells me after I transfer the lettering, pin the braid over the lettering and sew. Well I do not have a embroidery machine or the embroidery pressure foot, but I have a monogramming pressure foot. I do not want to sew this by hand. Please give me some advice on how to sew this braid on the pillow.

Depends on the braid and also the fabric the pillow is made from. You can sew by hand, zigzag over the braid, or even stitch down the center of it (middy braid has a little groove in the center that works well for this application). Do you have a foot on your machine that has a "trim slot" on the bottom? This allows braid and other trim to slide under the foot and still have the foot down against the fabric. Any machine that is recent enough to be computerized should have something like this available. You might check with your dealer to see if such a foot is available for your machine. Would be a nice addition to your foot selection if one is available and you are likely to use it frequently.
