Hello!

My natural color is a dark auburn-brown, but I have been bleaching my hair for about 17 years using a variety of methods, most recent 4 years have been using an OTC product called Super Blond.

My hair is about mid-back length, naturally curly (i.e. FRIZZY after processing) and fine yet thick. My ends are toast but I hate the thought of cutting them off, and if I use a straightening iron or hot rollers, the ends don't look icky anymore. The ends are shiny and don't break off, but you can tell they are not as healthy as the rest of my hair.

One time, I did try to dye my hair a nice rich auburn/chestnut color and it turned PINK! EEEEK! back to the bleach, hurry!

lol

SO here are my questions:

What can I use to color my hair so the color stays in?

What is the best leave in product out there that sleeks and shines curly/frizzy hair? (I usually leave regular conditioner in my hair after a shower).

Thank you!

- Liz

Keep my blonde or go to different color?

Since you changed a couple of times between bleach methods and were open for new things, I would say this message you put here is a good indication that you want a change. Try something new.

Guess what? I give massages and reiki. More info here!

The best leave in product I've seen is Silk Elixir by Nioxin. It smooths, conditions, and protects from heat styling.

LC Legacy Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner and Shine & Protect and also great for smoothing frizzy hair.

Someone told me that you should put mayonaise or olive oil on your dead ends before you color them... is this true?

I suppose that would work if you are coloring at home, but at the salon, there are much more effective products to use.

The oil or mayonaise would just block the haircolor, preventing over processing.
