I am against anything that hurts the ecology. If we have to sacrifice for that we should do it.

Scientists say a warming climate is behind a beetle epidemic that is killing spruce, pines, and firs in the Rocky's. Sustained periods of sub-zero temperatures are required to bring their numbers down to zero each year and this hasn't happened recently. Such an attack on multiple species has never been seen before.

I think Michael Crichton hit it when he states that the Global Warming debate has been over shadowed by political agenga mascarading as science. I think his article Aliens Cause Global Warming is both funny and so true.

US scientists reject interference Some 10,000 US researchers have signed a statement protesting about political interference in the scientific process. Last year, it triggered a major row when a discussion here resulted in the renowned US space agency climate scientist Dr James Hansen later claiming he had come under pressure not to talk to the media on global warming issues. you can read the article here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/6178213.stm

Science is also guided by politics. Funding comes from the politicians.

That's a big problem. Also the political agendas of private foundations sways scientists. I also think some scientists are so hell bent on proving their hypothesiseseseseses <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> that they over look data that disproves them. The ban on DDT is a an example. http://www.junkscience.com/ddtfaq.htm

I heard one scientist speaking who said he didn't believe global warming was the threat it is being portrayed. However, he and other scientists like him who were trying to disprove the global warming theory couldn't get government grants and funding for their research and these types of funds are necessary to be able to do any research.
The government chooses who to fund and this skews the research results. Most government agencies are full of people who all think alike, which stiffles diversity of thoughts and opinions.
