So what is everyone else doing this time of year? I'm in the Seattle area and the schools are closed due to snow! Every county in the area. I know; places don't close anywhere else that gets snow. But have you seen our hills?! Plus, since it's rare here, (we probably get snow a few days each winter), we don't have the equipment to clear the roads as efficiently as other places. The freeways tend to clear, but it's the side streets that are bad. For us, this is big! I love it. It's so pretty. Is anyone practicing softball this time of year? I know you are if you're in parts of California or other warm areas. What do others do during the off-season?

My daughter's team actually played a tournament this past weekend. It was cold, but for Houston, 40s is cold. We play pretty much year-round. I can't imagine having to quit for snow and ice!!!

Wow, that is cold; we start again in March and it can be that cold here as well during that time of year. I'm curious if your daughter enjoys playing year-round? How often does she play? When my daughters are going strong from March until July, they might play 3 out of the 4 weekends in a month, and that can make a very long season. I think both my daughters got a little burned out last season. Does your daughter play other sports? Mine play soccer, (1 of them) and the other plays soccer and basketball. She especially got worn out last season. In the fall, with fall ball, she is doing all three sports and going to school; and she has to maintain her A average or she can't play, (family rule). So she was pretty worn out after a very long season of softball that went through August due to Little League playoffs. That was her last year of Little League. The only reason she played was because our city hosted the Jr World Series and all we had to do was win district in order to qualify. Unfortunately, we did not perform to our full potential. The girls still had fun, though.

Happy New Year, everyone!
