"You would be surprised at how close minded the "scientific" people I know are. If you can't see it, measure it or otherwise quantify it it doesn't exist to them"
Science is hard and takes time and money. Scientists cannot research every idea that comes along - so they choose the best ideas that have the most promise of merit. That is not closed minded, just very practical. The next time you have cancer treatment, thank the scientists that chose to work a lifetime to make it possible - instead of wasting their time trying to figure out if the Shroud of Turin is the really sweat of Jesus.
I refuse to be a pollyanna. I applaud things that have value and I despise people who try to confuse others about the nature of science. Thousands of brilliant and dedicated people have invested their lives and minds in order to make our lives better. To prevent disease, give us light and heat so we don't get hunted down by wild animals and give us Hondas to drive to work. You would not be alive today if this were not so. They deserve our supreme respect - for you to call them closed minded is disgusting.
It is a crime of humanity for opportunists like creationists to try to steal credit for someone elses life long work by wearing science like an animal skin in order to dupe others into worshipping them and obtaining false honor. They spread ignorance, confusion and waste.
Your ignorance is an ugly thing and it doesn't deserve a shred of courtesy.

You have truly got issues. I feel sorry for you.
If only you knew that most of my best friends are scientists. I never said that science was bad, I only said that the scientific people I know are closed minded. My grandfather had 3 more years of life due to chemo... my son lives due to a respirator he breathed with when fighting RSV, I am very aware of scientific advances. I also know that without a GOD GIVEN BRAIN no scientific advances would ever be made.
I did not come here to debate science vs creation. I did not reply to JENNA to get in a philosophical debate.
I will be praying for you to open your mind to reality since from your diatribe it obviously has escaped your notice. God/dess bless you!
To learn is to live, follow your path, trust your faith and be true to yourself.

Aredant, once again you are claiming from a preassumption that the physical things are the most valueble in life. It doesn't matter how many Hondas you can have because of your scientist. You are forgeting that it doesn't matter if scientist have got the cure for some disease because you know what, if there is no God then it doesn't matter how long you live anyway. You are going to die. Ya you are right that scientist should be respected but you haven't really show has why they should be respected except that you can have a Honda. But if atheism is right, then there is no difference between us and animals that don't have Hondas because we are all going to die including you.

So a scienctist have more respect in the eyes of a creationist than an atheist because creationist atleast believe that human life has value and thanks to the scientist, they can be saved. But for atheist it doesn't matter, they are going to die anyway. By the way when I use the word atheist, I mean an atheist that acually live like atheism is the right world view but once again most atheists live as if there was a God and human life does have value.

I would prefer not to be called "Honey" in any kind of serious discussion. Or, actually, ever. And saying I don't know exactly how we got here does not default me to agnosticism. However it happened, I still do not believe it was God (any kind, any shape, any type, etc.). I was not saying nothing ever evolved. I was very specific with the Evolutionists being people who label themselves with standard evolution theory- which has aspects it has not answered. Maybe someday it wil answer them all. That would be wonderful. I don't like "I don't know" as an answer. In fact, there's probably nothing I like less, but I feel, for now, it is the only way I can be totally honest, even at my own discomfort.

If you say, "you don't know where we came from", I don't think that is atheism even though you are claiming to be an atheist. So ya you would be claiming agnosticism. You said, I was not saying nothing ever evolved. Not denying evolution doesn't really solve anything. When it comes to origin, as I said earlier, atheism has to believe that we came from nowhere. And let's leave the "I don't konw" answers to agnostics if we are claiming there is absolutely no God of "(any kind, any shape, any type, etc.)".

That reply is what I believe is called missing the whole point. Atheism does not have to answer to questions of origin. It means only one thing, especially when I use it. I defined my terms when I first got here, so to speak. I do not believe in God. That makes me an atheist. I don't know exactly how we got here. That makes me undecided and honest about it. It is true that the term "agnostic" can be applied to someone who feels there is not enough information to make a decision on any topic, but, considering its usual application, it's probably best to choose another word when that is what you mean- a word such as undecided.
