I'm on this mission right now, and the farthest I can get is to where you are supposed to pick up the charges. I can't pick them up. I have tried restarting the game, cleaning the disk, but I just can't pick up the charges. I have never used any cheats either. Can anyone help me?

You mean those satchel charges? Normally you can just walk into them and you pick them up. But if you have any other hand-thrown weapons (e.g. smoke grenades) you will have to press L1 (or R1, can't remember) to replace the weapon you already have with the one you are about to pick up.
