Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself. I just discovered this site and it looks pretty interesting. I am a Certified Professional Midwife and a Licensed Midwife in South Texas. I am always interested in anything to do with pregnancy and birth, especially waterbirth, homebirth, and VBAC. I would also like to see our (as in US) rates of induction, cesarean, and neonatal mortality go WAY down, so education and prevention of the causes are issues for me.

Welcome Claudine!!

So good to have you here, thanks for speaking up. I am working on my CPM right now, in Indiana. Texas seems like a great place to be, my preceptor went to the conference there in May and was very inspired!!
How long have you been practicing? My goal for this site is to provide info for clients such as yours...so please don't hesistate to let me know what you think they'd like to read about, etc.
I am very excited to have this be one of the few homebirth-friendly sites, and to have women such as yourself here!

Again, welcome!

Hi Maryn,

I bet I met your preceptor at the conference in May. I was in the breech workshop with a midwife from Indiana and one from Illinois. Good luck with your studies.

I have been looking for good pregnancy related web sites with bulletin boards or email groups that I can refer my clients to where they can get some decent info on pregnancy and birth and hopefully support for their decision to have a home birth. It would be nice to see a site with some positive information and GOOD birth stories, not the crazy stuff on TV (except for House of Babies.) I wish they would ban those shows. They just set up moms to expect the worst, accept interventions, and trust the docs/hospitals instead of their bodies.

It is nice to meet you!

Hi again Claudine-

Yes, I would bet that the midwives you met are the ones I work with- one is officially my preceptor and the other is now close by now in Indianapolis and amazing to work with as well. What a small world!!

Maryn:)
