We went to see One Night With the King, which is based on the story of Esther from the Old Testament. It was so surprising to find a nice clean movie at our local theater. I'm not a movie person by nature, but I loved this. My husband, who thought I was dragging him to a chick flick, found plenty of action to keep him happy, and it wasn't gory, so I was okay.

I loved it! It's from an independent film company, but looks expensive. Here's a link to their webpage:

We really liked the film. My girls and I watched it one evening expecting to see "just another Esther film." We enjoyed the quality of the film, the humor (Esther feeding pork to the monkeys), the outstanding characters (the head eunuch, is just one we liked), and the nastiness of Haman. Of course the literary license the film took was expected, but overall we would rate this as one of the best films on Esther we have seen.

It's actually the first Esther film I've seen. They did take license, but not too badly, considering it's a movie.
