Hello,

I was just wondering what you would refer to someone as who believes there is a "God" or a higher entity or greater power, whatever you want to call it, but that is the only thing they believe in.

I guess I should probably say I am refering to myself. I don't really like calling it god but I think that there is something else out there.

I wasn't too sure where to post this but there seems to be a lot of intelligent people that have been writing in the section that have really interesting opinions.

Thanks, Tara.

Theism (Theist): 1. the belief in one God as the creator and ruler of the universe, without rejection of revelation (distinguished from deism).
2. belief in the existence of a god or gods (opposed to atheism).

Deism (Deist): The belief, based solely on reason, in a God who created the universe and then abandoned it, assuming no control over life, exerting no influence on natural phenomena, and giving no supernatural revelation.

Ya I would say Theist or a Deist, even though being a deist is as good as being an agnostic or an atheist. I mean who cares about a God who created everything and left it to itself. It is better to believe that such a God doesn't even exist.

A couple of reasons. First of all, why would such a God create everything and abondan it? It would be a deciptive God who likes to play with people's mind's and feelings and even believes. He would be like a doctor who sees what the problem is and doesn't want to solve it. If there was a God then He would be knowable, not unknowable.

If there's a God, "she" would know when to back off and leave well enough alone.

Well I don't mind anyone saying God is a "He" or a "She". I believe God has the best quality of both men and women. So if you prefer calling God a "She", go a head. And ya of course God would know when to back off, actually God has given you free choice. Therefore we could actually make God back off from our lives or we could let God live with us. It is upto you.

In my experience, a lot of people who do choose not to engage organized religion and are not into a lot of "god talk" just say they are spiritual. I think most people feel this way.

It seems to describe the sensation of something outside ones self. In reality, this may be something that exists deep within you - a rudimentary awareness of ones own subconscious mind. Learning to establish a dialog with your subconscious, can be a powerful coping skill throughout your life. Your mind is doing a lot of thinking even though you are not aware of it. What people call prayer is simply a mechanism by which one can facilitate this phenomenon. In essence, you are talking to yourself by fantasizing about an imaginary being or "force". You succeed in life by always knowing yourself better, gaining life experience, getting good advice. (good regular sex helps a lot too!)

aredant, I am not even sure why you wrote such a random comment. Or maybe I didn't read it right.
