There are enough children already born who need a good home... why don't we put more effort into making the already existing children happy, clothed and fed, and stop just pumping out new ones??
I totally agree with you on all of that. Childhood was absolute hell. I'd die before I'd have to go through it again. And it also gets me on the "children lovers" who have six children when they could've adopted. If you really loved children, don't you think you'd be saving them? Seriously, people!
The other thing that bothers me is all these so called celebrities who are adopting kids from overseas in some bizarre 'look at me, I am a great humanitarian' pat on the back to themselves. If they really wanted to help, there are scores of kids in the USA who need homes and help. <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

True that. Let's see Angelina Jolie adopt some 13-year-old from the inner city who's spent his/her life living in a dangerous neighborhood in an apartment with no heat and almost no food caring for his/her six younger siblings because mom's a crackhead who's always passed out on the floor or not at home while her constantly-changing boyfriends come in and out and sexually and physically abuse the kids, meanwhile this kid is selling crack to keep the rent paid and food on the table...and who has emotional problems coming out their ears and who's constantly running away/on drugs/getting into trouble with the law/destroying things/cussing out the adoptive parents...THEN I'll be impressed. Anybody can adopt a cute little well-behaved healthy baby from China or Russia, big deal.

I always wonder if the same people who think there isn't any reason for concern over the population ever sit in a traffic jam during rush hour and think, "Gosh, we really do need more people in the world!"

These are the same people who think they might as well follow the lifescript because they can't see past the nose on their face.

I'm glad I am not going to be one to contribute to that.

When I hear someone who doesn't believe the U.S. is overpopulated, I like to ask them how long it takes for them to drive to work each day. Seriously, if the automobile is a wonderful piece of technology that significant shortens travel time, and we have freeways for cars needing to drive longer distances more quickly, why does it take an hour for a lot of people to get to work and back home? The answer: overpopulation.

Freeways, or Interstates, were actually not built for cars needing to drive longer distances more quickly. They are owned by the Federal Government who built/builds/maintains them in the event our Military needs to travel quickly from state to state. Ever see one of those Military convoys while scooting up the Interstate at 80 mph? That is who that road you're traveling on was really built for.

But I know what you mean and I concur with you totally. And you just KNOW the childed would never D R E A M in a million years that their little Johnny was a contributing factor towards those un-Godly traffic jams and hideous waiting times EVERY WHERE YOU GO - or either they've got their heads in the sand. They also have every excuse in the da mn book when you ask them about disposable diapers, how they clog up the landfills and why don't they use cloth. Those things ought to be banned until they can come up with ones that disintegrate more 10-freakin' percent.
