I wouldn't be able to have an abortion, but the thing would be up for adoption so fast its head would spin. Now, my guess is that I would hate it all during the pregnancy (and be resentful afterward for the changes to my body), though I guess I can't swear that were it to happen, I wouldn't get all pregnant-woman emotional and feel a bit more friendly toward it.
And I can't imagine what the post-partum depression would be like. I'm inclined to depression anyway, and my mom told me she had awful PPD with me...I'm sure it would be absolutely terrible. Is it possible for a person to never really get over PPD??

After the smelling salts..the trip to the hospital to be revived from the heart attack and the release from the mental institution.... We would readjust our lives..and I would do everything possible to ensure that the child would be happy and surrounded by love.... I personally can not stand children...but I know that the "anklebiter" would be a part of the both of us....so...as with anything that is alive- I would welcome the child into the world and show it what life has to offer- However, we will keep doing everything possible not to have a child- and if that includes wearing a full body latex condom- so be it- Children are difficult to have these days- I am not an irrational person-I look at life with a calm approach I like to travel- I like the idea of us picking up and going We love quiet - we love dining- we love being financially stable- I am employed as an inner city teacher...I have 150 new kids every year- it provides me with the satisfaction I need as I help these children on a case by case basis (high school level)-I think that I give so much -it has worn out the maternal side We love going out to movies/plays- enjoying the Sunday Times in bed- We love staying outdoors- snowboarding- horseback riding As much as my students tell me that i would be a great mom- I just don't see it- As a last thought....this would be no different than a friend or an elderly parent coming to live with you- they would have different needs- but- you take what God gives you...

For starters, I would seriously wonder how on earth it happened (hubby had a vasectomy years ago)... and then I'd have to decide whether to have an abortion or give it up for adoption (I REALLY don't want to be responsible for a child.) I'd probably have an abortion because (1) I would not want to put my body through that torture (and the resulting permanent changes) and (2) I would not want to make a child go through childhood - kids are very mean to each other.

I would definitely get an abortion. There's no way in hell I'd go through with a pregnancy!

I have asked myself this question and been asked it by other people. I honestly do not know. My DH and I are very CF. He had a vascetomy and I am still on the pill. (If that's not paranoid...) I do think it would be an easy decision, but know that I would make the best one for me and my DH.

Nah, that's not paranoid...when my ex and I were together, I spent my time wondering if we could find a doctor who would sterilize BOTH of us. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
OTOH, being on the pill is also not bad...less cramps, lighter period, less zits, knowing exactly when your period is coming? Sign me up. I miss being on the pill sometimes but have no reason to justify the cost...if I ever get married, I'll be sterilized but that makes part of me think "but then I wouldn't get all the benefits of the pill...."

Sometimes I think I'd rather abstain from sex for the rest of my life than have a child, HOWEVER....
As careful as we are, if I did get pregnant, we would keep the baby...no question. I'm a huge advocate of personal responsibility. You know when you have sex that there is a chance that you could get pregnant (especially if you aren't careful with your birth control methods). If it happened, I would consider myself (and my husband) responsible. We would have to change our lifestyle and live with our choices. We are a stable, healthy, financially comfortable couple. I could never justify an abortion in our case.
That said, I feel that a woman should have a choice and I'm definitely not judging those who would go the abortion route. It just isn't right for me.
