I know this is personal info but I am going thru the wonderful change of life so in the past year I have just been putting on the pounds any way I am having a really hard time trying to get it off so I decided today that I will just buy 2 pair of pants because I really need some pants and it's cold. I had to buy 12's I have been a 7 all my life, grrrrr. This is really a very frustrating time, I am not eating any more than I usually do. I have started to exercise but this just plain STINKS !!!!!! Why don't men have to go thru this.

A neighbor, who by the way I don't really like and after this comment really don't like, said to me "well when you just sit around all day you gain weight" !!!!!!!! I should of just kept my mouth shut and never even mentioned it. Plus she says this to me as I am cleaning the yard (raking, pulling weed, picking up trash) Oh well I will just do my best to get a control on it.

People are so rude!! I think once we hit a certain age, our metabolism slows to a snail's pace. We have to starve, and wear ourselves out with exercise to stay the same size we once were when we ate whatever we wanted and sat on our rear ends.
I feel your pain, Eva.
OMGoodness lindasara, a baby at 45! You certainly are admired by me! I think I'd die if I had a baby now, and I'm 41! You must be healthy and strong! Good for you!

I'd shoot my self. and i'm only 37.
i've always been healthy. and i know it's cliche', but i have the military record to prove it, i am a large frame (i have big bones). i have a 7 inch wrist and i'm 5ft 8inches tall, or 68 cm i think. when i was a senior in high school, i weighed 145 pounds, and still had a 27 inch waist. my measurements were 40-27-39.5 but looooooong gone are those days! back then, i wore a size 11/12 and some 10's. now i'm a 14 and have been for some time. i always had a slow metabolism, and it does seem to get slower as i get older. i get sooooo tired of monitoring EVERY SINGLE BITE that passes my lips. and the body never looks the same after having kids. i don't remember what my belly looked like before stretch marks. now stuff shakes when i walk, i'm growing hair in places I've NEVER had hair before, and every thing seems to be heading south...i had a 40 inch chest....get my drift? i am perimenapause, and if full-blown 'change of life' is to get worse, i'm going to need some medication. HA!

I may be young but I am already beginning to feel the change. In college I could eat all I wanted and it didn't do a thing to me- here I am just 3 years out AND I excercise daily ( started this as a Spring break get in shape thing 3 years ago and it worked for 2 years) , yet I have put on 15 pounds in the past year and am up 3 pants sizes. Ok so I am super motivated on my elliptical machine- but the diet thing is where I struggle.... I eat as much (if not more) than my 1% body fat boyfriend. Oh well- I guess that my body is trying to get ready to carry a baby while my mind is 10 years away from that one.
Eva- my best advice for you is find an exercise that you enjoy- for me it was stationary machines (ellipticals, bikes, treadmills) because I can watch TV/read while I do it and it takes my mind away from it. A friend of mine walks daily and tries to get lost and find her way back- a pedometer is a great way to track progress doing this. My mother used to Jazzercise with her buddies 3 nights a week and loved it.
As long as you have support and have a goal in mind you'll either get back into those 7's or you'll find that it doesn't matter what size you are as long as you are happy in who you are and become a better person in the process.

Thanks everyone for your support I did start an exercise routine because I have been getting alot of back aches and I thought it was because I sit and crochet, been doing it for the past 4 weeks and it is really helping. I have a total gym machine that I just love and it does help my back aches a whole lot. I am not going to worry about my big butt anymore. I quit smoking then went right into menopause which could explain all the weight gain, but I don't smoke anymore and I really do feel pretty good so bring on the chocolate !!!!!!
