yeah...Raymond was different that way. He even said that during the first season during the opening credits. Something like, "It's not about the kids."

As a mom of two, I really wanted Carrie and Doug to have a baby and was surprisd to see old episodes where they were trying. She had a miscarriage and it was never mentioned again. Weird.

They should have written it in though because she had so much trouble losing the weight afterwards. It would have made more sense, I think.

[color:"purple"]"I was offended by the way the lead woman was treated in the episode of Bones. The guy just blew off everything she said and kept telling her what she thought and how she would feel and she didn't argue with him. I liked that she didn't feel the need to argue, but really didn't like that her feelings and more important, her decision was just ignored. That silly woman couldn't possibly have made a non mommy decision so we will just ignore her funny comments because we know better than her. It was insulting."[/color]

I really enjoy Bones... and totally understand your reaction to this episode (I missed it!). However, I would like to add, isn't this how 'real life' treats women who want to be CF? I am wondering if this was intentional on the writers' part? Maybe they are pointing out how insulting it really IS for a woman to be treated this way? (I don't know as I didn't see the episode).

Also, on the Raymond / King of Queens discussion... I like both shows and enjoy them immensely! I am not sure but believe both shows are from the same writers? (Doug has appeared on Raymond and vice versa) Maybe this accounts for the similar CF tone? Just a thought.

Thanks for this insightful thread!

Hi! I am new to this website and I love it! I was so happy to find others out there who feel the same way that I do about kids. It is such a relief to know that I am not alone. Thank you!

My husband is in the military and we live overseas. I just saw the two episodes last night (I am not sure what the time delay is) and I have to say that I was upset with how the female character on Bones was treated. I am so tired of seeing how women are treated if they do not want kids. We are treated like there is something wrong with us and people assume we are "bad" people. That is how I how I have been made to feel from friends/family. I hope more shows come along that show that you can have a great life without children. I am happily married and I love my life just the way it is and I wouldn't change a thing.

Sorry about the long email. It is just so great to have a place that I can express how I feel about the situation and know that I am not going to be judged. Thank you for all of your support and I look forward to being a part of this group. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
